Grandview Childrens Centre's new Treatment Centre

As most may already be aware Grandview Children’s Centre publicly announced in late 2015, a campaign to build a new Children’s Treatment Centre  (CTC).  This capital campaign has been their only one since the early 1980’s and expected to be the only one for the next few decades.  This announcement follows years of planning, analysis and numerous discussions with our provincial government who is responsible for funding the operating costs of our Regions CTC and approximately 75% of the building costs of the new facility.

The attached “request for funding application” has been drafted following the layout suggested by RI; I trust it provides you with most of what you need and l look forward to speaking with you personally to fill in any gaps.  Please accept this application as my official request of your support for Grandview Kids.  Over 5,000 children in Durham using the CTC services and 2,000 children on the waiting list are counting on your support.  As some of you may already know, I’m very proud to share that my home club (RC Whitby Sunrise) has committed $50,000.  Please note the “request for funding application” mentions attachments, some are attached and the others we will have dropped off or couriered to your clubs representative who will take the lead of this request.

Please respond to myself and Laura with contact information of the person(s) who will take the lead for your club’s consideration of our funding request.  If we haven’t yet spoken to your club at a regular weekly meeting we would very much appreciate the opportunity to do so, please forward available dates to myself and Laura along with the name of the person best to co-ordinate with.

I’ve grown up in Rotary with this year being my 28th year as a very proud Rotarian, I’ve had the privilege of wearing many hats including President within our club.  Now with my Grandview volunteer hat on I’m hoping that Rotary Clubs within Durham Region will come together and raise $500,000 for our communities’ children and their families.  My goal is to have all Rotary Clubs of Durham recognized with our international emblem and club names to become part of the new Grandview CTC.

My sincere thanks in advance for your consideration and assistance,

Best Regards, yours in Rotary,

Barry
