GUEST SPEAKER  :

Name of Speaker:  Hilda Finnigan      Introduced By: Jodi Hewett

Remarks:  Hilda spoke of her brother, who lived a full and good life after receiving a heart transplant.  He received his heart on Good Friday and 20 years later, he died on Easter Sunday.

She quoted a lot of facts and figures for us. 1,475 people are waiting for organ donations in Canada.  Over 1,000 of these are for kidneys.  90% of registered donors will be honored.  Only 50 % of people who are not registered, end up donating organs.  Only 22% of Ontarians have registered for Organ Donation.

28% of people in Durham Region are registered organ donors. One organ donor can save up to eight lives.

You can register to be an organ donor: in person at Service Ontario offices, or on-line by going to beadonor.ca/cinema.

Live life, then give life.  Register today.

Thanked By:  Alan Nason

Meeting adjourned at 7:45 pm.

THE OBJECT OF ROTARY is to encourage and foster the ideal of service as a basis of worthy enterprise and, in particular, to encourage and foster:

FIRST. The development of acquaintance as an opportunity for service;

SECOND. High ethical standards in business and professions, the recognition of the worthiness of all useful occupations, and the dignifying of each Rotarian's occupation as an opportunity to serve society;

THIRD. The application of the ideal of service in each Rotarian's personal, business, and community life;

FOURTH. The advancement of international understanding, goodwill, and peace through a world fellowship of business and professional persons united in the ideal of service.

The “ideal of service” is the key. It is an attitude that does not change from one version to the next. It is an attitude we all have, as Rotarians.

IF YOU CAN’T MAKE IT, MAKE UP : Pat Dyck, our Club Secretary has a Rotary International Directory of all Rotary Clubs in the world, when and where they meet. Please mail or fax your make-ups to Pat Dyck, or give your make-up card to the attendance/registration officer at the next club meeting.
