GUEST SPEAKER  :

Name of Speaker: Ted Morrison, The Rotary Foundation

Introduced By: Robbie Larocque

Thanked By: Everyone

Speaker’s Remark: Ted reminded us that there is 6 key areas of focus of the Rotary Foundation. The donation has a tax receipt if given to the Rotary Foundation Canada .

One of our projects is the World Toilet day that is on November 19th. One third of the world has no toilet. About 6000 children die every day from water and sanitarian problems.  As a reminder our goal is to support the foundation with a $100 gift but $20 or any amount is appreciated.  The proceeds stay with the foundation for 3 years then it is distributed back to the district and local clubs at a 5050% application.  The world and local projects take 1000’s of volunteers and that is the real success of Rotary. The Foundation is now 97 years old starting in 1917. Thank you Ted.

THE OBJECT OF ROTARY is to encourage and foster the ideal of service as a basis of worthy enterprise and, in particular, to encourage and foster:

FIRST. The development of acquaintance as an opportunity for service;

SECOND. High ethical standards in business and professions, the recognition of the worthiness of all useful occupations, and the dignifying of each Rotarian's occupation as an opportunity to serve society;

THIRD. The application of the ideal of service in each Rotarian's personal, business, and community life;

FOURTH. The advancement of international understanding, goodwill, and peace through a world fellowship of business and professional persons united in the ideal of service.

The “ideal of service” is the key. It is an attitude that does not change from one version to the next. It is an attitude we all have, as Rotarians.

IF YOU CAN’T MAKE IT, MAKE UP : Pat Dyck, our Club Secretary has a Rotary International Directory of all Rotary Clubs in the world, when and where they meet. Please mail or fax your make-ups to Pat Dyck, or give your make-up card to the attendance/registration officer at the next club meeting.
