HAPPY BUCKS
·         Al Finnigan shared a “Happy Foot” story: he can now shower standing up!  Also, he’s happy for Hilda’s birthday this week
·         Ted Morrison thoroughly enjoyed the 50th year reunion for McLaughlin CVI.  He was the keynote speaker, having been student, teacher and administrator at the school.  One of his first acts of discipline at the school, as a student prefect, was to give a detention for gum-chewing to Sue Skinner (Walter’s partner).
·         Marion Mills welcomed back Carol Reading  and Eman Atallah (brief visit before the meeting).  Also, there will be more news soon about our mentorship program with Rotaract at UOIT.
·         Carol Reading is happy to be back…so many things have happened in the last few months!
·         Devon Biddle is pleased that Biddle and Associates (Robbie Larocque being an Associate) has received a Civic Pride Award for the Chamber of Commerce for valued contributions to our community.
·         Bob Stewart scored a 74 for 18 holes of golf!  Also, he’s sorry to have missed Ted Morrison’s speech at the McLaughlin 50th reunion.  He did however, enjoy the pub night…and yes, his former girlfriend attended the reunion.
·         Hilda Finnigan welcomed Carol Reading back, and also was very pleased to pick up Helmut Uphoff for Rotary tonight.
Dave Andrews was very pleased to see the smiles on the young students’ faces when we gave them their back-to-school supplies at Mary Street school and thanked President Jodi Hewett for making this donation possible
·         Helmut Uphoff is happy to have a ride from Hilda tonight.
·         Jodi Hewett welcomed back Carol Reading and wished Hilda Finnigan “Happy Birthday”!  She also was pleased to see Eman Attallah earlier and she shared that Eman’s son, Rawy is now driving.
·         Bob Koski, not to be outdone by Bob Stewart’s golf score, shared that he had a score of 72…except his was for 9 holes on an executive course.  Just call him “Bunker Bob”!!

ROTARY MOMENT
None for this evening

GUEST SPEAKER
Ted Morrison introduced Norma Davis, Rotary Club of Toronto-Eglinton.  Norma spoke about a WASRAG project in the Rift Valley, Kenya.  She shared about her club’s involvement and described the “compound benefit” of grants for RI.  Also, the clean water project has brought many other improvements to the people who share in it: education, bank loans, increased farming and trades.  This project is “A hand up, not a handout”.Al Finnigan thanked our speaker and the meeting adjourned at 8:00 pm

THE OBJECT OF ROTARY is to encourage and foster the ideal of service as a basis of worthy enterprise and, in particular, to encourage and foster:
FIRST. The development of acquaintance as an opportunity for service;
SECOND. High ethical standards in business and professions, the recognition of the worthiness of all useful occupations, and the dignifying of each Rotarian's occupation as an opportunity to serve society;
THIRD. The application of the ideal of service in each Rotarian's personal, business, and community life;
FOURTH. The advancement of international understanding, goodwill, and peace through a world fellowship of business and professional persons united in the ideal of service.

The “ideal of service” is the key. It is an attitude that does not change from one version to the next. It is an attitude we all have, as Rotarians.

IF YOU CAN’T MAKE IT, MAKE UP: Pat Dyck, our Club Secretary has a Rotary International Directory of all Rotary Clubs in the world, when and where they meet. Please mail or fax your make-ups to Pat Dyck, or give your make-up card to the attendance/registration officer at the next club meeting.
