Mark’s Remarks:

With 5 of our Club members going to the District Conference Oct 24 – 26, 2014 at the Westin Prince Hotel in Toronto, Mark Chipman was very pleased but was here tonight to see if more Rotarians would be coming. The District 7070 website is filled with all of the information.

The big feature this year is that the Conference is in Toronto and that Rotarians and spouses may wish to attend all or part of the conference with the a al carte menus of pricing options.

The keynote speakers including Team Canada’s Paul Henderson and superb breakout sessions capped with a dineer and Monte Carlo evening are just a few of the highlights.

THE OBJECT OF ROTARY is to encourage and foster the ideal of service as a basis of worthy enterprise and, in particular, to encourage and foster:

FIRST. The development of acquaintance as an opportunity for service;

SECOND. High ethical standards in business and professions, the recognition of the worthiness of all useful occupations, and the dignifying of each Rotarian's occupation as an opportunity to serve society;

THIRD. The application of the ideal of service in each Rotarian's personal, business, and community life;

FOURTH. The advancement of international understanding, goodwill, and peace through a world fellowship of business and professional persons united in the ideal of service.

The “ideal of service” is the key.

It is an attitude that does not change from one version to the next.

It is an attitude and passion we all have, as Rotarians.
