Each and every year, on the first Tuesday in December, members of the Rotary Club of Oshawa-Parkwood and their families host, the Annual Christmas Party at The Oshawa Golf and Curling Club for the residents and their staff of Participation House. The evening features a traditional Christmas buffet dinner, followed by the singing of Christmas Carols, and the arrival of Santa Claus who gives out presents to the residents and staff of Participation House and families of the Rotarians.....

Participation House Durham ("PHD") is a non-profit, community-based organization providing needs-specific assistance to youth and adults with physical and/or developmental disabilities within the community.

PHD promotes an environment of mutual respect and open communication in a warm "home" setting. Participation House operates 24-hours a day 7 days a week for individuals with a physical and intellectual disability. All homes operated by Participation House are within Durham Region. The care, support and supervision of the individuals who have a physical and intellectual disability living in the home are provided by support workers on a shift rotation basis. In addition to supporting individuals in healthy, safe homes throughout the Durham region, Participation House Durham also provides recreation and leisure activities for clients with disabilities in their community. Day activities promote social interaction and increased awareness and exposure to local resources that greatly assist individuals in obtaining desired personal goals.
