Members going to Leading Women Building Communities Awards

There will be no meeting at the Oshawa Golf Club  this week.

Congratulations to Kim and Carolina! They have made an impact! And they have been nominated and selected for the “Leading Women,Leading Girls, Building Communities” 2018 Award!  Jennifer French, MPP for Oshawa had the pleasure of working with the nominators from our Rotary Club of Oshawa-Parkwood to secure their nominations for the provincial “Leading Women, Leading Girls, Building Communities” award (  This award gives MPPs the opportunity to recognize local women and girls who have demonstrate exceptional leadership and improve the lives of others, through activities including:

  • Breaking down barriers and encouraging women and girls to get involved in non-traditional careers
  • Championing or actively promoting issues such as equality, diversity, healthy equal relationships
  • Preventing violence against women and girls
  • Reducing racism and discrimination
  • Encouraging women and girls to participate in areas of public service
  • Acting as a positive role model by mentoring, coaching, leading events or organizations
  • Providing a positive example to women and girls in their communities

These two members of our Rotary family have certainly made and continue to make a difference. The letters for their nominations certainly demonstrate how much our Rotary Club appreciates and respects their contributions. They certainly deserve to be appreciated!

Jennifer French will be holding a recognition event on Tuesday April 3rd, 2018 from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at the Oshawa Public Library – McLaughlin Branch Auditorium to celebrate the award recipients and their families, alongside with all those who wrote letters of support.

To our members: Please visit Eventbrite to register, and feel free to forward the information to any other guests you would like to bring with you that evening.

We all want to celebrate with Kim and Carolina. Light refreshments will be served.
