THE OBJECT OF ROTARY

is to encourage and foster the ideal of service as a basis of worthy enterprise and, in particular, to encourage and foster:

FIRST The development of acquaintance as an opportunity for service;

SECOND High ethical standards in business and professions, the recognition of the worthiness of all useful

occupations, and the dignifying of each Rotarian's occupation as an opportunity to serve society;

THIRD The application of the ideal of service in each Rotarian's personal, business, and community life;

FOURTH The advancement of international understanding, goodwill, and peace through a world fellowship of

business and professional persons united in the ideal of service.

Rotary Code of Conduct provides a framework for ethical behaviour that all Rotarians can use, together with The Four-Way Test, in their business and professional activities.

ROTARY CODE OF CONDUCT

As a Rotarian, I will

1. Exemplify the core value of integrity in all behaviours and activities
2. Use my vocational experience and talents to serve in Rotary
3. Conduct all of my personal, business, and professional affairs ethically, encouraging and fostering high ethical standards as an example to others
4. Be fair in all dealings with others and treat them with the respect due to them as fellow human beings
5. Promote recognition and respect for all occupations which are useful to society
6. Offer my vocational talents: to provide opportunities for young people, to work for the relief of the special needs of others, and to improve the quality of life in my community
7. Honour the trust that Rotary and fellow Rotarians provide and not do anything that will bring disfavour or reflect adversely on Rotary or fellow Rotarians
8. Not seek from a fellow Rotarian a privilege or advantage not normally accorded others in a business or professional relationship

Tess: There will be a short 50^th anniversary meeting next week before the regular meeting.

Tess:  Still looking for historical memorabilia. Thanks, Lennis. We will be going thru what we have at Linda Biddle’s on June 10 at 1 pm.

Tess: Once I become president, I will no longer have time to do the Bulletin every week. If you are interested, I will show you the basics.

Tess: I sent out a Member Satisfaction Survey over the weekend through Clubrunner email. Please complete it before next week’s meeting. I also brought paper copies today if you would like to complete that way.

Tess: Little Forests is having a Prep Party this Sat. at Windsor Park in Whitby. Join workers anytime from 9-12 noon. Bring your own garden gloves.

Hilda: Sign up for the Peony Festival. Maple syrup, Bird Houses, and Ploughman’s are all for sale.

Bob Stewart: Presented a Southern Zone Australia banner.

Dave A: Thurs June 4 Walk of Fame induction ceremony. Regent Theatre. 2-4 pm

Shashi: Picnic is being planned and she will bring a sheet next week. The picnic will be on Aug 15.

June June Glorious Summer

• Tess is proud to wear her new Paul Harris+1 pin. Thanks to Ted for organizing the event.
• Robbie is happy that next year’s club service will be the best committee.
• Robert K. is happy to still be alive and at a meeting enjoying his pizza.
• David P. is also happy Robert is alive.
• Lennis had a fun weekend. He went to 3 houses looking at how folks are restoring their old cars. One car was 100 years old!
• Ted happy to see Pat here. But also, sad because he fell going up stairs last Thursday.
• Pat D. is happy to be here. It’s been too long.
• Bill C. told a family story about his 8 yr. old Granddaughter. She quite the dancer and won 1^st place 2 X in a recent competition.
• Bob S.is happy Robert is still alive.
• Dave A. It is good to have Pat back and thank you to Ted for a meaningful Paul Harris Night.
• Al is happy to be alive and that Robert K is still alive.
• Hilda is alive and well after the great manure accident of 2026.
• Bev is happy to be here.
• Don is happy that everyone is here, and Robert is still alive.
• Camille apologized for missing the Reverse Draw. Her trip to Taiwan was nice and was a make-up meeting at the wedding. She was surrounded by Rotarians, and Rotary Exchange students.
• Sudeep is proud that his son, Rahul, is joining our club.
• Shashi reminded us that not every beautiful person is good…. But every good person is beautiful. She is happy to be part of the Rotary family and was especially honored to receive her Paul Harris pin.
• David M. thanked our amazing club and is happy that his final board of director’s meeting was a great experience

ROTARY MOMENT FOR JUNE 2, 2026 FROM PAST DISTRICT GOVERNOR TED MORRISON

Ted Morrison presented a beautiful moment of the compass that is the 4-Way Test. Created in 1932 by Rotarian Herbert Taylor, the Test was not designed as a slogan or a marketing tool. It emerged from the crisis of failing lumber businesses. It grounded every action with integrity, and it worked. Not because it was clever, but because it was true. The questions are not rules nor laws. They are a daily deliberate choice to lead with character. Each question serves as a foundation for Rotarians that guides us in what we do and shapes us in all we do.

1. IS IT THE TRUTH? Truth is not always comfortable or convenient, but it is always liberating.
2. IS IT FAIR TO ALL CONCERNED? Fairness is the antidote to division. When we choose fairness, we choose dignity.
3. WILL IT BUILD GOODWILL AND BETTER FRIENDSHIPS? Rotary is built on friendships not transactions or title. This question challenges us to build bridges and reminds us to leave every interaction a little warmer than we found it.
4. WILL IT BE BENEFICIAL TO ALL CONCERNED? This final question expands our vision and reminds that our actions ripple outward shaping our club, our community, and our world.

The 4-Way Test is not just a recitation it is a way of life where we help make a better world.

Welcome Parkwood Estates Samantha George, Curator

Dave Andrews introduced Samantha George, Samantha is passionate about history and material culture.  She is an avid lover of social history and she teaches filming at historic sites at Sir Sanford Fleming College. Welcome Samatha!

Samantha provided us with an in-depth overview of the economic ins and outs of filming at Parkwood. She is such a seasoned expert in this that she now teaches other historic sites and museums how to navigate this complicated process. Filming at Parkwood contributes to the economic successes of the site and our city, The fees to Parkwood can be substantial with a recent project adding $130,000 to their bottom line. The economic contribution to the city is multidimensional from catering to hotels to municipal services. The benefits of film operations alone include increased visibility for Parkwood, a long-term tourism interest and exposure, and positioning Oshawa as a film filming destination. This takes months to prepare and needs expertise in labour relations/contracts, heritage risk management, and vehicle and parking management. A successful film shoot results in tangible and long-term value to Parkwood and Oshawa. We enjoyed Samantha’s many personal anecdotes of her experiences with film crews.
