Happy Birthday to Janice Coupland on November 10 Happy Birthday to Kristen Colton(Shawn’s spouse) on November 12 ANNOUNCEMENTS: Dec 7 will be our Annual General Meetings of our Rotary Club of Oshawa-Parkwood and oue Oshawa Parkwood Rotary Club Charitable Foundation where we will select our next year’s President and Directors. From Past Pres Sue: Christmas tree sales will commence December 3 and continue until we are sold out. Sale Times: Sat and Sun shift-hours will be: noon to 3:30 pm AND 3:30pm to 7:00pm; Weekday hours will be 3:00pm to 5:00pm and 5:00pm to 7:00pm. There will be an interactive schedule soon that you will be able to use to sign up! Call Sue and she will sign you up for a shift or two or three. Thank you. Kids Safety Village will be decorated for Christmas ( 5 pm to 8 pm on Nov 26, 27 and 28 and again on December 2,3 and 4, with Dec 5 as the date for the clints and families of Grandview Children’s Centre) Volunteers needed for helping to decorate , and for the evenings as indicated. Please let Hilda Finnigan or Lennis Trotter know when you can put in a volunteer shift or two. Ted thanked those members who were able to serve on Saturday at the Kids Against Hunger event. It appeared everyone had a good time. Everybody chipped in with the set up, and the take down. We packaged 36,000 ,meals for needy families around the world. Ted also reminded all members to get their CAKE AND HAMS orders in ASAP. The hams are $30.00 and cakes are $20.00 and come in a nice Christmas tin this year (great Christmas gift). ORDER DEADLINE: NOV 14 FOR HAMS AND NOV 21 ORDER DEADLINE FOR CAKES. GET YOUR NUMBERS TO TED BY NOV 14 AT THE VERY LATEST. President David announced that we will have our annual Christmas party for the club on December 14 at Larry’s Party room 900 Wilson Road north. Save the date. Ted also announced a spouse’s night for a special speaker on November 30. Please let Hilda know if your spouse is coming and what meal they will have . ACE OF SPADES: Sgt at Arms Tim Dwyre Draw Winner for Ace of Spades was Robbie Larocque drew 5 of Hearts. The pot grows. Happy Bucks Sue had a cooking accident and almost included her finger in the salad she was making Bob Stewart was surprised to see Dave A walking past his house on his daily walk President Dave was happy for the Kids Against Hunger event Al was happy to be going golfing one last time this week Bill Creamer was just happy. Speaker: Tuesday Talks - Rotary Foundation – Where your money goes For the speaker this week we were joining the Tuesday Talks program by zoom on the Foundation. Bryne Styles was the first speaker. Bryne is a former Director of RI and former Trustee of TRF. Currently his the Aide to the President if RI Shekhar Mehta Bryne spoke about how much money TRF has given clubs for global grant projects over the last five years. He also spoke about Peace scholars. The second speaker was Dr.Charlotte Hunter currently on staff of St Michaels Hospital. Her specialty is HIV/AIDS. She is also associated with Casey House in Toronto. She described her journey as a Global Grant Scholar in 2020-21 in the UK.
