We meet regularly, get to know each other, form friendships and through that, we're able to get things done in our community.

THE OBJECT OF ROTARY

is to encourage and foster the ideal of service as a basis of worthy enterprise and, in particular, to encourage and foster:

FIRST The development of acquaintance as an opportunity for service;

SECOND High ethical standards in business and professions, the recognition of the worthiness of all useful

occupations, and the dignifying of each Rotarian's occupation as an opportunity to serve society;

THIRD The application of the ideal of service in each Rotarian's personal, business, and community life;

FOURTH The advancement of international understanding, goodwill, and peace through a world fellowship of

business and professional persons united in the ideal of service.

Rotary Code of Conduct provides a framework for ethical behaviour that all Rotarians can use, together with The Four-Way Test, in their business and professional activities.

ROTARY CODE OF CONDUCT

As a Rotarian, I will

1. Exemplify the core value of integrity in all behaviours and activities

2. Use my vocational experience and talents to serve in Rotary

3. Conduct all of my personal, business, and professional affairs ethically, encouraging and fostering high ethical standards as an example to others

4. Be fair in all dealings with others and treat them with the respect due to them as fellow human beings

5. Promote recognition and respect for all occupations which are useful to society

6. Offer my vocational talents: to provide opportunities for young people, to work for the relief of the special needs of others, and to improve the quality of life in my community

7. Honour the trust that Rotary and fellow Rotarians provide and not do anything that will bring disfavour or reflect adversely on Rotary or fellow Rotarians

8. Not seek from a fellow Rotarian a privilege or advantage not normally accorded others in a business or professional relationship

We are gathered this evening on Treaty Lands that are steeped in rich Indigenous History. These Lands remain home to many First Nations, Metis and Inuit People. We acknowledge that we gather this evening on the Traditional Territories of the Mississaugas of Scugog First Nations.

• Bob Koski - survived a golf outing last week with Miles after he crazy glued his fingers together, got hit by a golf ball and stung  by a bee.

• John  K- had 14 family members  at the cottage for the weekend

• Bill - Had a good time at the Minden fair.

Announcements: REMINDERS

 - Hilda – sold a bird house and 110 bags of manure on the weekend

 - Hilda  - There is a corn roast at the North Oshawa Farmers market this Saturday the 10 from 11am to 1 pm.

We are hoping that Rotarians will show up to show our support for Past President Jodi Hewett and proceeds will be going  to Simcoe Hall.

 - Hilda – Tulip bulbs should be in next week for sale at $18.00 for 20 bulbs.

 - Hilda – Thank you to  Lennis and Esther for volunteering on Sept 20  at the North Oshawa Farmers Market.

 - Hilda - October 1 - Al will be on his own at the Farmers Market and we would like a Rotarian to help Al that Saturday.

 - Hilda - Last Tuesday – Our social night was a great success. Perhaps we can do a lawn bowling night next year Ted.  Janice Coupland is arranging the social night for September 27

 - Ted- - Theresa Gamble (President of the Courtice Rotary club) ’s daughter was in a serious truck accident and is in critical condition. Hilda will send her a card from our club.

 - Ted - Rotary Foundation Walk only has 12 clubs registered. We need more people from our club. The Walk is on September 25 at the Cullen Park on Taunton Rd. in Whitby.

 - Ted and Sharon are planning a trip to Ireland and Scotland in 2023 and he will be going to get the info very soon, Please let Ted know if you are interested.

 - Ted - Painting the fence at  Parkwood Estate cannot take place on Sept 27 so Sept 22 has been chosen instead. Ted will co-ordinate with Samantha. Spouses, and children are encourage to help. See Ted and please volunteer your time.

 - Dave Andrews – The 2022 World Polio Day LIVE form the Rotary Global classroom is on Oct 20. Please register  ASAP. Capacity is only 100 people.

 - Robbie Larocque- Rotary Club of Port Perry is having a bicycle trail ride fund raiser on September 11. Please join them if you can. All the info is on their club website and Facebook Page.

- Robbie - Be sure to sign up for Rotary Leadership Institute . Part One starts Sept 14. Cost is a $20.00 donation to The Rotary Foundation. See details below for signing up.

 - Robbie - September 28. There is a membership webinar details on the web Rotary web site. Work Smarter, Not Harder, to Grow Your Club  Wed, 28-Sep-2022 11:00 am (60 min)  Data-driven decision-making is critical to the success of any business — and to your club and district. What if you knew how many members you might lose this year and how many you would need to recruit in order to grow? This session will help club and district leaders understand their data, including historical attraction and retention rates, and prioritize their goals in order to maximize their impact.  NOTE TO PARTICIPANTS: We acknowledge that this time is not convenient for everyone who belongs to our International Organization.  - Robbie The 7070 District Conference is on October 15 and 16.

 - Ray Richardson and Philip Nero are promoting a SONGS OF HOPE CONCERT FOR UKRAINE on September 24 in  the Town Hall at  Port Perry., tickets are $50.00 at 6.00pm and 8 pm.  There will be a host of theatre songs of hope from top notch talent who have donated their time there will be a live band. The 3 main goals of the concert and fund raiser:   1. Medical supplies for Ukraine;  2. An operating table  for the hospital in Ukraine; and  3. Winter cold weather supplies .

Join us for an evening of song & dance performed by some of Toronto’s top musical theatre performers & musicians, aspiring young talent, & special appearances from members of our Ukrainian community. All proceeds will go to Health Partners International (HPI) (www.hpicanada.ca) which purchases near expired pharmaceuticals (including life saving medication), to deliver to the front lines for Ukrainian refugees who have had to flee their homes leaving all possessions behind. This is a licensed event available prior to each performance. All ages welcome. Get your tickets to Songs of Hope, a benefit concert on September 24 at Town Hall 1873 Theatre in Port Perry for Ukraine. Tickets are $50 and available at https://townhalltheatre.ca/ . REMINDER: Dave A announced - Oct 13  - Bistro 67  Followed by a tour of Durham College Skills Trade center. eryone was in agreement. Cash bar at 5 pm, dinner at 5:30 pm, then go over to the new Skills Trade Centre for a tour with DC Pres Don Lovisa. Cost $35 per person  (plus tax and tip). You will pay Bistro 67 after your meal. Enetree: harvest bowl salad  and Dessert. Spouses and guests welcome. Please let Hilda know by Oct 9 number in your party.

REMINDER: Ted announced that the Kids Against Hunger meal packing at the Jubilee pavilion at Lakeview Park will be on SUNDAY, NOVEMBER 6, 2022 NOT SATURDAY.

Kevin gave a brief history of Camp Samac

 They would like financial help on a wood working project they are working on.

• Revamp staff Cabin 2 to create a fully accessible Woodworking shop

• Upgrade electrical system for safety

• Install dust control system

• Instructional area

• Benches for working on

This will be a place for youth to learn to build Beaver Buggies, Kub Kars, Scout Trucks, Paddles,, Furniture, Birdhouses etc. Youth can learn the proper operation of hand power tools..

Brady thanked Kevin for his thorough presentation.
