THE OBJECT OF ROTARY

is to encourage and foster the ideal of service as a basis of worthy enterprise and, in particular, to encourage and foster:

FIRST The development of acquaintance as an opportunity for service;

SECOND High ethical standards in business and professions, the recognition of the worthiness of all useful

occupations, and the dignifying of each Rotarian's occupation as an opportunity to serve society;

THIRD The application of the ideal of service in each Rotarian's personal, business, and community life;

FOURTH The advancement of international understanding, goodwill, and peace through a world fellowship of

business and professional persons united in the ideal of service.

Rotary Code of Conduct provides a framework for ethical behaviour that all Rotarians can use, together with The Four-Way Test, in their business and professional activities.

ROTARY CODE OF CONDUCT

As a Rotarian, I will

1. Exemplify the core value of integrity in all behaviours and activities
2. Use my vocational experience and talents to serve in Rotary
3. Conduct all of my personal, business, and professional affairs ethically, encouraging and fostering high ethical standards as an example to others
4. Be fair in all dealings with others and treat them with the respect due to them as fellow human beings
5. Promote recognition and respect for all occupations which are useful to society
6. Offer my vocational talents: to provide opportunities for young people, to work for the relief of the special needs of others, and to improve the quality of life in my community
7. Honour the trust that Rotary and fellow Rotarians provide and not do anything that will bring disfavour or reflect adversely on Rotary or fellow Rotarians
8. Not seek from a fellow Rotarian a privilege or advantage not normally accorded others in a business or professional relationship

Tess: Zeffy website is now live for the 50^th Anniversary Dinner. 

The president changeover meeting is June 23. It will be upstairs at the Golf Club. Buffet pasta bar.

Happy Bucks

• Michael Jones is happy to be back.
• Al is happy that Pat drew 9 of hearts and very happy for the Peony Festival success.
• Bev had a sad buck. Her sister just received cancer diagnosis today but she very hopeful. Bev was also happy to have had an amazing checkup herself.
• Lennis is happy to be sitting beside Shashi.
• Sudeep Finally! Great weather.

• Dave A. What a great Peony Festival. Happy to remember 18 years ago and Ted & Sharron’s 40^th

  Anniversary and the LA excursion to Rodeo Drive.

• David P. even though he just got taken for 10$ he is happy it could have been 20$.
• Rahul is now a happy graduate from Western University.
• Ted shared a happy buck from Sharron. The wind was brutal on Saturday and is happy the canopy did not blow away. Happy that Ted did not hurt his shoulder holding the canopy down “for dear life”. Sharron was sad that she lost an earring at the festival but happy that Hilda found it.
• Larry Kay is better and even driving. The cottage is open and he got to use his chain saw. In true Larry fashion he ended his Happy Buck with a golf joke.
• Tess Thanks to Lennis for finding the original charter.
• Linda B. is happy to be on the 50^th Anniversary committee.
• Pat D. is happy to be here.
• Dave M. is happy that is mom now has a cochlear implant. She’s already complained that Dave was talking too loudly.
• Shashi is always happy. Especially happy that the Participation House people are here

ROTARY MOMENT FOR JUNE 9, 2026 - ROTARY FELLOWSHIPS  - BY PAST DISTRICT GOVERNOR TED MORRISON

Ted Morrison presented an introduction to the quiet treasures of Rotary Fellowship Groups. Something that members usually don’t discover right away is the world of the Rotary Fellowships. These are global groups for anyone in the Rotary family including Rotaracters and Friends of Rotary. These are groups of people who share a common passion. Some may be about hobbies such as cycling or hiking or wine and photography. Others are professional connections like teaching, technology or leadership. Once you join a fellowship group you suddenly find yourself a part of a global circle of friends who share your interests, values, and your love of service. Fellowships remind us that Rotary is more than meetings and service projects. It’s relationships and discovering that someone else, across the globe, loves the same things as you do. Consider joining a fellowship group. It is a small step that can open a big door.

Welcome Participation House Tracy McGarry & Michelle Brooks

 Dave Andrews introduced Tracey McGarry the Director of Quality Assurance and Community Development for Participation House Durham and Michelle Brooks, the Executive Director.

Our Rotary club and the Participation House (PH) have partnered together for almost 50 years. PH Is a non-profit organization that provides a range of services for youth and adults with physical and developmental disabilities throughout Durham Region. the organization is committed to the belief that people with disabilities are entitled to shape their lives and actualize their potential. Tracy updated us on all the new initiatives happening at PH. Two very interesting programs are the Friendly Neighbor and Roommate support program. In these two PH clients are paired with people who live with or next door to the individual. These living arrangements provide an opportunity for community members without disabilities to share housing environments with people from The Participation House Project Durham Region who have developmental disabilities. Their goal is to create an environment where all people can live, learn, and grow together. These partnerships are beneficial to everyone. We watched a video interview with Richard, who successfully lives independently with the help of his friends and roommates.
