We meet regularly, get to know each other, form friendships and through that, we're able to get things done in our community.

THE OBJECT OF ROTARY

is to encourage and foster the ideal of service as a basis of worthy enterprise and, in particular, to encourage and foster:

FIRST The development of acquaintance as an opportunity for service;

SECOND High ethical standards in business and professions, the recognition of the worthiness of all useful

occupations, and the dignifying of each Rotarian's occupation as an opportunity to serve society;

THIRD The application of the ideal of service in each Rotarian's personal, business, and community life;

FOURTH The advancement of international understanding, goodwill, and peace through a world fellowship of

business and professional persons united in the ideal of service.

Rotary Code of Conduct provides a framework for ethical behaviour that all Rotarians can use, together with The Four-Way Test, in their business and professional activities.

ROTARY CODE OF CONDUCT

As a Rotarian, I will

1. Exemplify the core value of integrity in all behaviours and activities

2. Use my vocational experience and talents to serve in Rotary

3. Conduct all of my personal, business, and professional affairs ethically, encouraging and fostering high ethical standards as an example to others

4. Be fair in all dealings with others and treat them with the respect due to them as fellow human beings

5. Promote recognition and respect for all occupations which are useful to society

6. Offer my vocational talents: to provide opportunities for young people, to work for the relief of the special needs of others, and to improve the quality of life in my community

7. Honour the trust that Rotary and fellow Rotarians provide and not do anything that will bring disfavour or reflect adversely on Rotary or fellow Rotarians

8. Not seek from a fellow Rotarian a privilege or advantage not normally accorded others in a business or professional relationship

Editor’s Note: Dec 7 or 14 will be our General Annual meeting where we will select our next year’s President and Directors.

From Past Pres Sue: Christmas tree sales will commence December 3 and continue until we are sold out.  Sale Times: Sat and Sun shift-hours will be:  noon to 3:30 pm AND 3:30pm to 7:00pm; Weekday hours will be 3:00pm to 5:00pm and 5:00pm to 7:00pm .There will be an interactive schedule soon that you will be able to use to sign up!

Kids Safety Village will have decorations for Christmas at the end of November and early December. Volunteers needed

Ted also reminded all members to get their cakes and ham orders in ASAP. The hams are $30.00 and cakes are $20.00 and come in a nice Christmas tin this year (great Christmas gift).  ORDER DEADLINE: NOV 14.

Ted also announced a spouse’s night for a special speaker on November 30.

Bob Stewart enjoyed perhaps his last game of golf this year. It was a good one

Al was happy to reserve his first night on the road to Florida

Hilda corrected Al on the date of the first night on the road to Florida

Robbie was happy that his daughter is off to Chicago to continue her job as a magician’s assistant

Richard came to bring us an update on the Ongutoi Health Center that he started back in 2008.

He show a short video with all the upgrades to the hospital as well as the development of the orange grove. The orange grove was planted to make the hospital project more sustainable. The orange trees seem to be flourishing from the drip irrigation they designed using the rain water collection system they designed. The future is very bright . They hope to get a global grant for US$220,000 to expand the rainwater harvesting and the orange groves. Oshawa Parkwood has supported this project from the beginning.

      SOLD OUT FOR THE SEASON. THANK YOU LARRY HURREN FOR HIS LEADERSHIP AND THANK YOU EVERYONE WHO SOLD THE TULIPS AND THOSE WHO PURCHASED THEM TOO.

IT’S HERE. YOU CAN BUY TICKETS.  – PLEASE GET REVVED UP AND GET YOUR “ASK” IN GEAR AND GET ALL OF YOUR FRIENDS AND NEIGHBOURS TO BUY TICKETS EVERY WEEK FOR A CHANCE FOR THE BIG JACKPOT AND “CATCH THE ACE”. THE WEBSITE IS UP AND RUNNING. WEEKLY DRAW EVERY TUESDAY AT 8 PM.
