Robert Kipling was happy to let members know that he and Caroline spent August 28 (1st anniversary of Devons death and it would have been his 76th birthday, at the his graveside. They had a bottle of Devon’s favourite, a chiraz. They had three glasses and drank 1/3 each, pouring 1/3 on his grave, nice way to remember Devon. John Kellam happy to hear how Robert remembered Devon. Lennis will be happy to attend carfest in Bobcaygeon, 200 vehicles on display. Dave Mankiewicz also acknowledged Devon’s birthday. Bill Creamer also remembered Devon, his employer and dear friend. ANNOUNCEMENTS: President Dave Penney Catch the Ace ticket sales are slow! We have only sold 138 tickets to date and we are committed to sell 1,200 first year of operation. Let’s get those numbers up! Social lunch at the Canadian Brewhouse on Simcoe Street North, on Sunday, September 12, 11:30am to 3:00pm. Rooftop patio with option to be inside should weather not co-operate. Also an elevator to transport to the roof. Cost is $25.00 and please let Janice know if you plan to attend. Pre ordering not necessary. Next week our guest will be Zachary Preston, who will educate us on autism, in particular, those over 18. What support is available for them. Manure and tulip sales resume on the Oshawa Farmers Market on September 11 September 13 – next Safety Village Meeting, at the village at 7:00pm. October 21 – World Polio Day – there will be a flag raising; proclamation in the works, Dave and Peter working with Major and Councillors to arrange date and time for this event. It was also noted that a different location for our Silent Auction and Reverse Draw will be necessary as the Golf Club is using the large banquet ball for golf simulators, possibly until June 2022.
