THE OBJECT OF ROTARY

is to encourage and foster the ideal of service as a basis of worthy enterprise and, in particular, to encourage and foster:

FIRST The development of acquaintance as an opportunity for service;

SECOND High ethical standards in business and professions, the recognition of the worthiness of all useful

occupations, and the dignifying of each Rotarian's occupation as an opportunity to serve society;

THIRD The application of the ideal of service in each Rotarian's personal, business, and community life;

FOURTH The advancement of international understanding, goodwill, and peace through a world fellowship of

business and professional persons united in the ideal of service.

Rotary Code of Conduct provides a framework for ethical behaviour that all Rotarians can use, together with The Four-Way Test, in their business and professional activities.

ROTARY CODE OF CONDUCT

As a Rotarian, I will

1. Exemplify the core value of integrity in all behaviours and activities
2. Use my vocational experience and talents to serve in Rotary
3. Conduct all of my personal, business, and professional affairs ethically, encouraging and fostering high ethical standards as an example to others
4. Be fair in all dealings with others and treat them with the respect due to them as fellow human beings
5. Promote recognition and respect for all occupations which are useful to society
6. Offer my vocational talents: to provide opportunities for young people, to work for the relief of the special needs of others, and to improve the quality of life in my community
7. Honour the trust that Rotary and fellow Rotarians provide and not do anything that will bring disfavour or reflect adversely on Rotary or fellow Rotarians
8. Not seek from a fellow Rotarian a privilege or advantage not normally accorded others in a business or professional relationship

Paul Harris Dinner

Rotary District 7070 Governor Niecy Dillon-Tyrovolas expressed her privilege participating on this night of recognition. She honored our club’s commitment to the Foundation and thanked us for our generosity. She ended by reminding us that “your generosity makes a difference in ways you may never fully see but trust me …lives are being changed because of you.” DG Niecy then assisted Ted by pinning each honoree.

Emcee Past District Governor Ted Morrison opened our evening with a lovely reminder of the purpose for the special meeting. “The Paul Harris pin is not simply an award; it is a declaration. A declaration that service matters. That generosity matters.”  It is about the impact our contributions have in the world. We give not to be honored, but to ensure the work of the Foundation grows stronger. The pin is not the finish line. It is an invitation to deepen your commitment and showing the world what the Four-Way Test stands for. “let it [the pin] remind you that Rotary is not something we attend; it is something we embody.”

Paul Harris Awardees

Past District Governor Ted introduced each recipient by recognizing the strengths that they bring to the club. Shashi Bhatia is the champion of spirit with a big heart. Donald Igbokwe not only has an infectious laugh, but his deep knowledge in governance also helped with our incorporation process. Tim Dwyre does not let health restrictions stop his commitment to our club and the Foundation. Dr Tess Pierce is a club cheerleader and by using Direct Deposit painlessly donates every month. Bill Creamer was our treasurer and is currently between places to live. That does not stop him from contributing. Dave Andrews “Mr. Rotary” wears many Rotary hats from Club to District to Region. His is the highest level of the program. Ted’s last award was to Peter Hernandez who, with his wife Irina, achieved Major Donor Status last year but never received the pin. Tonight, that was rectified.
