Please let Dave know as soon as possible if you are attending. We need to advise numbers by April 15. Bring your own water (in a reusable bottle) and a picker if you have one. Wear boots. Ted Morrison announced that Silent auction items are needed SOON. Take a picture of your contribution and send it to Dave Andrews for publication/advertising. Ted Morrison - reminds us to bring cash for briefcase, heads or tails game and table tickets. Dave Andrews - reminded everyone that he has Reverse Draw Tickets for us and that the marketing material he has provided for us should be utilized. Over 150 tickets out so far. Our goal is to sell all 200 tickets. Get your Silent Auction items as soon as you can and send photo and retail price and donor name to Dave A so he can create posters. President Linda Porritt – welcomed the Board of Directors of the Kids Safety Village and thanked them for their service: Lennis Trotter-President; Will Luchford-Vice-President; Andy Elliot –Treasurer; Sue McKinnon-Secretary and Directors-Linda Porritt, Scott Tyner, Bob Bryan, Geof Wilkinson, Ron Mortson and Hal Alleyne REMINDERS: Hilda Finnigan – Ploughman’s Choice Sale for 2024 is ON NOW. We will be at the North Oshawa farmers market starting on May 11 for 4 weeks and also there for 6 weeks in the fall. Hilda Finnigan – Our Club will be selling Ploughman’s Choice 100% composted livestock manure and Bird Feeders at theBrooklin Fair (June 1 and 2) and at the 2024 Peony Festival in the Oshawa Botanical Gardens on June 8. Volunteers are need to help sell . A volunteer sign-up sheet will be passed around very soon SGT AT ARMS: Larry Hurren Larry Hurren won the Ace of Spades raffle and drew the Two of Diamonds. The pot grows. HAPPY TWOONIES: Larry Hurren - happy that the kids at the Kids Safety Village Easter Extravaganza choose chocolate over tooth paste, good for the dentist Hal Alleyne - was impressed with the Kingston Eclipse viewing Bob Stewart- happy to have the black squirrel with the white spot back in his yard Robert Kipling– Happy to see the eclipse from his house. AND he announced that the Friends of the Oshawa library are having their sale of used book program at the library again on Saturday and he gave out handouts Hilda Finnigan- happy to see everyone there for the annual Safety Village joint meeting Dave Andrews - this was his favourite meeting of the year – the annual update on the activities and programs of the Kids Safety Village Annual meeting at the golf club – so many different groups , from different backgrounds, all with one common goal for 30 years – to see the success of the Kids Safety Village. Peter Irvine- told a funny seagull joke Lennis Trotter -welcomed everyone to the Kids Safety Village annual get together here at our Rotary Club Ron Mortson - happy with maple syrup GUEST SPEAKER: Durham Regional Police Constable Vanessa Ford - Kids Safety Village Lennis Trotter introduced Vanessa Ford, the Durham Regional Police Constable in charge of the Program at the Safety Village . Vanessa outlined what is new: Special events are so well attended: 10,600 in attendance for Halloween ; 6,000 in attendance for Christmas; 4,800 in attendance for Easter; and 5,000 students planned for the summer program.
