Toast to Canada: Emmy Iheme Visiting Rotarians and Guests : Welcome to our visiting guests Orlando, Farzana Ali and Amandeep Singh BIRTHDAYS AND ANNIVERSARIES: ANNOUNCEMENTS / REMINDERS: Hilda – The regular weekly meeting of our Club on May 13 is cancelled (since we have 2 meetings this week). The May’s directors meeting will be held on May 20 at 5:00pm Lennis – Reminds the Club that the Safety Village will have been in operation since 1994, some 30 short years. Dave A – reminded the club of the upcoming District Assembly. The assembly will be held on May 10, 2025 at Centennial College. This event is good for newer Rotarians and those who are looking to be on the Board. Dave noted that those who do choose to join the admission fee will be covered by the Club. Dave A – reminds us of the fast approaching Reverse Draw. We have just over 150 tickets out now however our Goal is 200 (same as last year). Members should start thinking about who they sold tickets to last year. Members were encouraged to think about possible sponsors for this event too. The more the merrier. May 8 is but one week away. Dave A – Announced this evening of an upcoming Oshawa Walk of Fame installation date for June 19, 2025. The installation of all of the stones from the 2024 Walk of Fame will take place at the 4-corners in downtown Oshawa and extend rom there, starting at 3 pm. Our club is invited to attend.. Hilda – Will attend the May 22 Red Barn bingo in place of David P the other volunteers are Robbie, Dave A and Camille. Looking forward to May 31 the Bingo volunteers include Dave A, David P, Linda and Lennis Ted – reminded the Club of an upcoming spouses’ night on May 27. May 27 will be our Paul Harris awards presentation evening. Kindly sign up at the May 20 meeting, time is short on this event as there in no meeting on May 13! Hilda – noted that the new order of Manure is in with sales being brisk. So far the need for a presence at the Farmers Market does not seem to be impeding sales. Dave A. - MAY 12 – 11AM Join the Rotary Club of Oshawa , In place of their regularly scheduled lunch meeting. Where: Ontario Tech University, 2000 Simcoe Street North Google Maps link ACE Who: Rotarians and Guests are welcome to attend. All names must be submitted to Amber Derby, Past President by Monday, May 5th Parking Information: When you arrive to the campus, The Automotive Centre of Excellence is on your right as you round the curve. Please park in Founders Lot 2 which is the parking lot on your left at the first stop sign. Enter the gated lot by obtaining a ticket and we will provide a chaser ticket after check-in at ACE. Enter the ACE building via the north entrance doors, pass the elevators, turn right and follow the signs to the ACE security desk. Let security know you are meeting with Heather Nelson. Please wear closed toe shoes, you will not be admitted to the tour otherwise. Sign up with Dave Andrews before May 5. Hilda – reminded the Club of the upcoming Peony Festival being held on June 6, 7 & 8.

REMINDER: Ted – updated us that the Maple Syrup Sales Fundraiser only 30 bottles left. Thank you all it has been a great success. Larry – announced to the Club of a yard sale this Saturday at Faith United Church on Nash Road in Courtice. SGT AT ARMS: Al Finnigan ACE OF SPADES: The draw was won by Robbie. The King of Clubs was drawn.. The pot grows even bigger!! HAPPY BUCKS: Thank you to Al Finnigan for collecting our Happy Bucks. Al F – is happy Robbie did not pick the Ace tonight. David P, - Leon – is happy to be here this evening Bill – is happy to be raffle prize winner at a recent Hearth Place Gala – a diamond necklace. Anna – Is happy she visited a Polar Bear Experience recently, seeing several polar bears. Ted – is happy that a very busy week is almost over. Dave A. – is happy for the upcoming Reverse Draw all things are coming together nicely! David M. – is happy that Tess P. has stepped forward this evening to be vice-president for the Club in the 2025-2026 Rotary Year. Thank you, Tess. Shashi – is very happy to be accepted as a Director for the Club in the 2025-2026 Rotary Year. Lennis – is happy that his recent Old Car tour went well. Orlando – is happy for all the laughs. Hilda – is happy for all the successes this year. SPEAKER: No speaker this evening! Dave Andrews and Ted Morrison went over the needs and next steps required for Reverse Draw success. AND we conducted the Annual General meeting of the Rotary Club of Oshawa -Parkwood for the year ending June 30, 2024.
