Terry…keep selling tickets for our Reverse Draw. There are about 150 out right now; we need at least 180 sold.
Al F. & Ted…auction items can be given to Al next week (Ted will be away) but send an email to Ted & Sharron so that the table signs can be done well ahead of time.
President Al…1) shared a publication from UOIT re: celebration of its first decade. Our club has donated $10,000 so far toward a pledge of $15,000.
2) reminded the Reverse Draw Committee to stay for a short meeting after our regular meeting.
3) reminded us that on May 3rd, there are two events: Family Fun Day in Courtice and the District Assembly at the BMO building in Scarborough.

HAPPY BUCKS
1. Ted gave $2 in Happy Bucks because of a great get-together with friends on Sunday to wish Marilyn Lyon, Carol and Marion a good trip. After the party, Ted & Sharron went to the casino and won, and after that Ted won some more at Wilmot Creek. Soooo, he went and bought a golf cart!
2. Hilda put in $4 to share news about Organ Donor Month (April). R.C. of Whitby, R.C. of Bowmanville and R.C. of Oshawa- Parkwood got their percentage up to 31%. Overall in Durham Region, the percentage is up from 28% to 29 %.
3. Bob S. put in $1.25 because his Happy Buck was little short last week. His daughter is home from Western and when she put on her new helmet that her dad purchased for her, she hated it because it wouldn’t fasten properly. She had to play the game without it clicked shut.
4. Robert pointed out that, in some jurisdictions, the organ donor program is an “opt out” one; everyone is considered to be a donor unless a signed document exists to say otherwise. Hilda pointed out that, even with that in place, families are still asked for their consent.
5. Carol is happy because the ”countdown” to the Australia trip is on…one week from tomorrow!
6. Devon paid a “Bob Koski $.75” to say that he and Linda had been signed up for Australia, but then he checked out the weather in Tasmania and decided not to go.
7. President Al put in $2 of Happy Bucks because their property up north is sold and all cleaned up.
8. Andy is happy that his yard is all cleaned up from the damage of the ice storm.

GUEST SPEAKER
Devon introduced our guest speakers from Kinark: Cheri Smith, Kinark Director of Development and
Cyndy De Giusti, President, Kinark Foundation
Cyndy spoke about the Kinark Foundation and Kinark programs for children with mental health issues and their families. Kinark also has programs for children with Autism and with anxiety disorders. With over 3,000 children served last year, there are still 300 on the waiting list.
Cyndy explained Kinark’s source of funding and made the point that Kinark’s programs are very cost-effective when compared to the cost of a child in the justice system or in a hospital.
Al Nason thanked our guests.
Meeting adjourned at 7:45 pm

THE OBJECT OF ROTARY is to encourage and foster the ideal of service as a basis of worthy enterprise and, in particular, to encourage and foster:
FIRST. The development of acquaintance as an opportunity for service;
SECOND. High ethical standards in business and professions, the recognition of the worthiness of all useful occupations, and the dignifying of each Rotarian's occupation as an opportunity to serve society;
THIRD. The application of the ideal of service in each Rotarian's personal, business, and community life;
FOURTH. The advancement of international understanding, goodwill, and peace through a world fellowship of business and professional persons united in the ideal of service.
The “ideal of service” is the key. It is an attitude that does not change from one version to the next. It is an attitude we all have, as Rotarians.
IF YOU CAN’T MAKE IT, MAKE UP : Pat Dyck, our Club Secretary has a Rotary International Directory of all Rotary Clubs in the world, when and where they meet. Please mail or fax your make-ups to Pat Dyck, or give your make-up card to the attendance/registration officer at the next club meeting.
