LAND ACKNOWLEDGEMENT

We respectfully acknowledge that we are hosting this Rotary Club of Oshawa-Parkwood meeting from land within the jurisdiction of Williams Treaties and on the traditional territory of the Mississaugas of Scugog Island First Nations, the Anishnaabe, the Chippewa, the Haudenosaunee and the Wendat peoples. This acknowledgement reminds us of our responsibilities to our relationships and the ancestral lands on which we learn, share and live.

ANNOUNCEMENTS

President Linda Porritt  - Thank you to John Kellam and all of the volunteers on the success of our Big Rotary Garage Sale last Saturday. What a fantastic location in the parking lot at MAK Funeral Home . Close to $1,500 raised.

Sue Mackinnon – The Kids Safety Village of Durham is open daily from 10 am to 2 pm. It is not a drop off but a drop in.

Sue MacKinnon - Summer BBQ steak dinner - Sunday, July 16. 2:00pm to when it's over. At Bill Creamer’s Daughter’s home  - 20 Sunny Ridge Trail, Hampton - very close to Enniskillen Conservation Area.  $25 each plus please bring a  salad or a dessert.   Please Let Sue know if ASAP if you plan to attend.

President Linda Porritt  - NOV 27District Governor John Burns Official Visit to the 2 Rotary Clubs in Oshawa – 11:45 am to 1:30 pm, Wendel Clark’s Restaurant, 67 Simcoe St N, Oshawa, ON L1G 4S3. A luncheon meeting. Joint meeting of the two Rotary Clubs here in Oshawa.

 

REMINDERS:

Sue MacKinnon – Rotary Club Annual Dues are due to our Treasurer Bill Creamer.

Dave Andrews announced LAST CALL for the “Movie Night” sponsored by Whitby Sunrise “Mission Impossible Dead Reckoning” with Tom Cruise!  July 12th /$15.00 ea. And we are going out for dinner first. Register with Dave ASAP – It is the  North American Premier of the Tom Cruise new movie is in addition to that meeting. Looks like 10 people form our club so far. Sue has arranged for dinner at Boston Pizza on Taunton Rd E at 5 PM for those interested. We need to be at the Theatre by 6:30 pm.

INDUCTION OF OUR NEWEST MEMBER: JACQUIE VISCONTI

President Linda Porritt  Linda proposed good friend Jacquie, a horse lover, owner of 2 dogs, 2 cats and property for them!  An all around fascinating person and great role model. Jacquie was presented with her pin, name badge and Rotary package along with the 4 way test. Jacquie happy to join our club!:

ACE OF SPADES:

Robbie Larocque won the opportunity to draw the Ace of Spades, but instead drew the 4 of Spades and received a tube of toothpaste as a consolation. The jackpot grows.

Lennis also welcomed Jacquie AND he is going to London, Ontario for a car show and tour this week; vehicles from both Canada and the U.S.

Bob Stewart welcomed Jacquie AND after purchasing some scented soap for his trip with the boys to Saratoga NY, he was told to leave the soap at home.

Bill also welcomed Jacquie AND looks forward to the BBQ on Sunday

Robert Kipling also welcomed Jacquie.
