Land Acknowledgement

We respectfully acknowledge that we are hosting this Rotary Club of Oshawa-Parkwood meeting from land within the jurisdiction of Williams Treaties and on the traditional territory of the Mississaugas of Scugog Island First Nations, the Anishnaabe, the Chippewa, the Haudenosaunee and the Wendat peoples. This acknowledgement reminds us of our responsibilities to our relationships and the ancestral lands on which we learn, share and live.

ANNOUNCEMENTS

Past President Dave Andrews presented President Robbie with awards received by Oshawa Parkwood at the District Governor Changeover on Friday June 23rd, These awards were in recognition of our Internal and External communications in the 2023-24 Rotary Year.

Dave Andrews presented to David Penney the 2021-22 EndPolio Award for our club’s contributions exceeding the minimum objective of $1500 US per club. Well done everyone.

Dave Andrews announced a “Movie Night” sponsored by Whitby Sunrise “Mission Impossible Dead Reckoning” with Tom Cruise!  July 12th /$15.00 ea. And we are going out for dinner first. Register with Dave ASAP – LAST CALL FOR TICKETS IS JULY 4. We will still have our regular July 11 club meeting. North American Premier of the Tom Cruise new movie is in addition to that meeting. Looks like 10 people so far.

President Robbie – announced that the deadline for reduced price registration for 7070 District Conference October 20 -23 at the Marriott has passed!!  Registration is now $339.00 and room cost is $159.00/night. 

John Kellam stated we are still receiving donations towards the Yard Sale with date change to July 8th ; a new sign up sheet for volunteers will be circulated at our meeting on July 4ththanks to who volunteer.

REMINDER: Linda Porritt Ways and Means Committee Meeting June 20 cancelled will be on the Agenda for the July 5th Board Meeting (Bill Creamer hosting).

Rachael DelIo is waiting for grandchild #4 in September

Sue MacKinnon – Sara Rose Lancaster (mechanical engineer) from Oshawa works on the control for the Robotic Arm used in surgery and the Rotary Club of Oshawa Parkwood supported the purchase of this equipment for Lakeridge Oshawa
