Meeting Called to Order at 6:30 PM: by President Robbie Larocque

Land Acknowledgement:

We are gathered this evening on Treaty Lands that are steeped in rich Indigenous History. These Lands remain home to many First Nations, Metis and Inuit People. We acknowledge that we gather this evening on the Traditional Territories of the Mississaugas of Scugog First Nations.

Dave Andrews:

World Polio Day is October 20th register for this Annual Event as only 100 people can be accommodated in the Global Classroom  $35.00/each – Sandwiches  and cash bar. Flag Raising and Proclamation at City Hall on October 18 @ 11:00 AM for World  Polio Day. Members welcome to join the photo op.

October 13th we are at Bistro 67 for dinner followed by a Tour of Skilled Trades;  Spouses/Partners are invited – Let Hilda know by Sunday Oct. 9 so we can give numbers to Bistro 67. Doors open at 5:30 pm. Please be there by 5:20 pm.

David A. – happy with fence painting “a hands on” project

Hilda Finnigan – a great weekend celebrating 60 yr anniversary of nursing  graduation with 14 of her  classmates; then her birthday; also noting that Peter Hernandez really “got me” with a joke referring to our  manure!!!!

 

SPEAKER: Our speaker tonight was our Vice President Linda Porritt.

Linda presented a document reviewing our Strategic Plan and discussing areas on which we need to focus.                       This document is attached to this Bulletin and all members are encourage to read and comment. Please send any suggestions to Linda before the Oct 29 meeting. There will  be a session on Saturday October 29th from 9 – 12 at Linda’s office; to review and   discuss  this  document as it relates to our focus for the Rotary Year 2022/23 and  beyond.

REMINDER: Dave A announced - Oct 13  - Bistro 67  Followed by a tour of Durham College Skills Trade center. DOORS OPEN AT 5:30 PM, YOU MAY ORDER DRINKS WITH YOUR DINNER. Dinner at 5:40 pm, then go over to the new Skills Trade Centre for a tour with DC Pres Don Lovisa. Cost $35 per person  (plus tax and tip). You will pay Bistro 67 after your meal. OCT 20 – WORLD POLIO DAY IN DURHAM REGION – (6:00 pm to 7:00 pm – light lunch and cash bar for the first 100 registrants) then the LIVE BROADCAST  7:00 pm to 8:15 pm –  joint meeting of Durham
                 Region Rotary Clubs and co-hosted by the Rotary Clubs of Oshawa and Oshawa-Parkwood, in the Rotary
                 Global Classroom in the new Centre for Collaborative Education at Durham College where we will celebrate
                 World Polio Day with leaders from around the world. This is one of District 7070’s premier events in the Rotary
                  year : The Rotary Foundation's Polio Eradication Initiative to END POLIO NOW.  
                 Be sure to invite you spouse, relatives, business associates, and prospective members and all clubs in District
                 7070. We will see the live Rotary International livestream event and we will also broadcast our event live to
