GUEST SPEAKER:      PRESIDENTIAL CHANGEOVER

President Robbie presented Perfect Attendance pins to a number of club members. Perfect attendance does not mean coming to every club meeting. Perfect Attendance is doing something for Rotary 52 times during the Rotary year such as committee meetings, board meetings, district meetings, service projects, conventions and conferences .

 

President Robbie’s Address:

President Robbie began by thanking his Board members for assisting him in meeting challenges in the past year, most especially his health challenge reverting to Zoom meetings for the Board and taking on the chairmanship of regular Tuesday night meetings on his behalf.

  • 22/23 Board members were VP Linda Porritt, PP David Penney, Treasurer Bill Creamer, Secretary Sue McKinnon, Directors Foundation Ted Morrision, International Service Bob Koski, Community Service Larry Hurren, Membership Dave Mankiewicz, Public Image Allan Finnigan, Club Administration Hilda Finnigan and Executive Secretary David Andrews.

  • Fund Raisers, Fellowship and Projects included – Kids Against Hunger, Cake and Ham Sales, Bingo, Special Events at  Kids Safety Village, Purple Woods Maple Syrup Festival, Great Lakes Cleanup, Manure Sales and Delivery, Birdhouse Sales, Reverse Draw, Peony Festival and our pending Yard Sale.

  • The new normal of a social evening in lieu of a business meeting once a month has been met with enthusiasm by our members and spouses, may “the Rotary Wheel roll  on”.

Robbie closed his remarks, thanking his family, in particular his wife Terri Lynn for their love and support throughout the past year.

President Elect Linda’s Address:

President Elect Linda began be quoting International President Elect Gordon McInally who said “Rotary helps create the conditions for peace, opportunity, and a future worth living. Rotary helps create a more peaceful world---a more helpful world.” She encouraged us to continue to seek opportunities to spread the Rotary message, engage the community and grow Rotary, thus embracing the President Elect’s theme. Thanking the Oshawa Parkwood Presidents’ who have gone before she encouraged us to continue working as a team, supporting eachother and moving the world forward towards a future worth living

 

As his last act as President,  Robbie closed the meeting at 8:05 pm.
