ANNOUNCEMENTS

The Club has two fundraisers in the formative stage:

The sale of organic fertilizer—that project should be ready for promotion and order taking by mid-April or early May right in time for the gardening season. By then the Club will have a website capable of accepting payments, promote fundraisers and accept donations for designated club initiatives.

Another project is an on-line Catch-The-Ace raffle. It is expected that the raffle will be functional within six weeks or even sooner.

Rotarian and Past President Dr. Kris Sachdeva provided us with a status report on COVID-19. The variants have become a new concern but at least the case numbers per day are reducing. Kris then gave us a review of 14 myths that have emerged as part of the conversation regarding COVID. If you want to talk about COVID myths call Dr. Kris.

Ted Morrison let us know that Sharron is supporting Big Brothers / Big Sisters of Clarington and is looking for sponsors. If anyone can help out, email Ted and let him know how much you are pledging. Here are Sharron’s own words: The Big Brother/Big Sisters of Clarington are holding a fundraising Obstacle Course on February 23. It will be held at the 420 Wing in Oshawa. This is a teamed event. I am on a team with former Rotarians Jodi Hewitt and Marion Mills. We are taking pledges for our team-the money goes to Big Brothers/Big Sisters of Clarington. I am looking for your support to pledge an amount to my team. Any amount $20 or more will receive a tax receipt. I will collect it the next time I see you. (Until then Ted will put the money in for you). Thank you for your support.

Sharron Morrison

Strategic Plan Review and Up-Date

President Sue created a short form outline of the club’s Strategic Plan.  She then invited comment on progress and as important the continuing relevance of each initiative. Most Strategies remain relevant but with thoughtful discussion it was determined that some content needed to be revised. Revisions and content additions will be made by Sue and we will revisit the Plan again in a month and refine it further. COVID-19 certainly has impacted progress but the review was a great refresher on what out club is about and gives a chance to refocus.
