Thank you to Janice Coupland and David Mankiewicz and to Vice President Linda Porritt and to Sonya Thompson and especially to Santa Claus for arranging our December 5 Participation House Christmas Party at the Oshawa Golf Club with our spouses and kids and grandkids . Lots of fun and so nice to be able to bring some joy to the residents of Participation House.
Janice Coupland – Dec 12 – Club members Party at Kris and Janice condo in Ajax – please dress up for the party (shirt and tie gentlemen) . Cost is $30 per person and bring your own refreshments. Sign up sheet is being circulated with Janice. Please let her know as soon as you can. And Please pay her on Nov 28, Dec 5 and Dec 12. janice will be sending around a note to those who are attending. (Fellowship at 6 pm and dinner at 6:30 pm).

Director of Service Kim Boatman – Encouraged ALL of our member to attend the Annual Breakfast in suport of Sharon's Kids. On Dec 9 , from 8 am to 11 am at the Tartan Tavern, 555 Rossland Road East. We are focusing on ages 13 yrs & Up! (Sample Gift Items: HMV gift certificates/ toiletries/blow dryers/curling irons/ makeup/shaving kits/ watches/calculators/socks/Chapters or Future Shop g/c). Secretary Robbie Larocque – keep open the week of March Break in 2018. We have put our club's name forward to work the Maple Syrup Festival serving Pancakes and waiting on table at Purple Woods. REMINDERS:
From President Ted : One of the items that our Club member wanted , as a result of the Visioning exercise is to increase the profits from the 2018 Rotary Reverse Draw Dinner and Silent Auction . Ted said that one of the most dramatic ways to do so is to increase the profits from the Silent Auction. We can do that in two ways: dramatically increase the number of items (from 50 to 100 items) and dramatically increase the value of each item ( to at least $100 if not more towards the $200 to $500 range). And now is the time to start looking and asking.
From Past President Hilda – In her role as Chair of Club Administration asked everyone to bring EXACT CHANGE to the Rotary meeting for registration $22 and for Draw $2. And Happy Twoonies would certainly follow suit unless you wish to be every more happy.
From Sonya Thompson – Our partners at the Kids'Safety Village, The Whitby Lions Club is holding a New Year's Eve Party on Dec 31 at Heydenshore Pavillion Cost $80 per person (early bird price). Always nice to help out our partners. 589 Water St, Whitby. Doors open 6:30 Dancing until 1:30 Enjoy a served sit down meal at 7:15 Beef tenderloin and Chicken breast & veg Followed by a Trio of deserts. There will be Midnight snack /sweet table and coffee. Festive decorations & New Years party favors. We will have a Silent Auction, Raffle also Spot prizes. We have fantastic music by DJ Serge. This is a Adults only event. With a CASH bar. From Tess Pierce – The Oshawa Rotary Club is holding the Annual Polar Bear Swim on January 1 at 12 Noon at the beach at Lakeview Park . Your cost of admission for the eventi is $30 with the proceeds going to The Rose of Durham. Tess is going to swim , again this year. Her goal is to raise $1,000 and she has set up a 'Go Fund Me “ page and anyone can donate and help Tess raise the money. And thank you, Tess for the candy canes that we all received tonight at our meeting.
From President Ted – Rotary Club of Etobicoke is asking for gently used hockey equipment to send north tou our indigenous people. A huge project of the Rotary club. Got something to donate? Equipment will go to MasterCard Centre, 400 Kipling Ave, Etobicoke, ON M8V 3L1 and benefit First Nations youth in remote northern Ontario communities. From Vice Pres Linda Porritt: She is collecting volunteer hours for all of our service projects this year, starting July 1 2017 and ending June 30, 2018 and they will be entered into the projects at on Rotary Club Central for all of us to see. Keep track of all of your hours and report them to Linda for each project (committee meetings, research, investigation, donations, etc).
