Members of the 4 Rotary Clubs of Oshawa, Oshawa-Parkwood, Whitby, Whitby-Sunrise, together with many family members joined forces, in a COVID responsible environment, and partnered with Kids Against Hunger Canada to purchase and to pack more than 36,000 meals, in one day, on Saturday, November 6, 2021, and the same 4 Rotary Clubs carried out the same magnificent humanitarian service project again on November 5, 2022, at the Jubilee Pavilion, in Lakeview Park, Oshawa , it was announced today by the Ted Morrison, Past District Governor of Rotary International District 7070 and chair of the event......

The four Rotary Clubs have paid for the food with the help of a Rotary Foundation District Grant and with an efficient assembly line of volunteers dressed in aprons, plastic gloves and hair nets, all 40,000 meals will be packed and ready to ship in short order.

The meals will go to where it is most needed. Last year, our meals, with transportation provided by Kids Against Hunger Canada, went to Kenya, Haiti, and some went to our Indigenous People right here in Canada. It is anticipated that similar locations, including some for Feed The Need, here in Durham Region, will be chosen shortly for this massive humanitarian project.

World's leading food scientists took nearly 3 years to develop a food package, for KIDS AGAINST HUNGER ( KAHCanada.org ), containing 6 meals for only $ 0.30 per serving, with ingredients that provide a blend of protein, carbohydrates, and vitamins needed by an undernourished child’s body.

Every hour of every day, children die of starvation or malnutrition related diseases. Kids Against Hunger Canada is a registered Canadian charity, whose mission is to end that tragedy.

Kids Against Hunger Canada packages and ships highly nutritious, life-saving meals to starving and malnourished children within Canada and developing countries around the world. They do this by mobilizing the energy and caring of Canadians, just like those in the four Rotary Clubs of Oshawa, Oshawa-Parkwood, Whitby and Whitby-Sunrise and their families (children, teens, and adults) on behalf of hungry children around the world, with added help from the Rotary Clubs of Ajax and Bowmanville.

Local leaders also came out , dug right in , and helped pack the meals: Jennifer French, MPP for Oshawa; Lorne Coe, MPP for Whitby; Colin Carrie, MP for Oshawa and fellow Rotarian; Ryan Turnbull MP for Whtby;  John Henry, Chair of Durham Region and fellow Rotarian; Dan Carter, Oshawa Mayor; Bob Chapman, Deputy Mayor Oshawa; Dierdre Newman, Councilor in Whitby, and Maleeha Shahid, Whitby Councilor. Thank you everyone.
