President Ted Morrison – Welcomed newest member Chris Birrell, who moved to Oshawa and was a member of the Rotary Club of Pickering l! Ted presented him with his name badge

Sonya Thompson - Introduced the President of the Rotaract Club Carolina Rodriguez and invited her to update us on the Rotaract Club Activities

Carolina Rodriguez – Very successful bake sale in the fall and proceeds were given to our treasurer Devon Biddle to be deposited into the End Polio Now campaign. The Rotaract Club has had a very successful member recruitment and will be inducting 10 new members on January 31 at the Meet and Greet. All members of the Oshawa-Parkwood and Whitby-Sunrise Clubs are invited to the Rotaract Meet and Greet on Wednesday January 31 from 7 to 9 pm. at 61 Charles Street, 2nd floor. They will be inducting the new members, plus there will be other students there who have expressed an interest. Oshawa-Parkwood Club will pay for the pizza. Please come about 6:30 pm and help move tables and chairs.

President Ted Morrison – Read from a thank you letter received from Don Lovisa, President, Durham College thanking us for our club’s commitment to the “Something Amazing” building campaign to aid with the construction of the new Centre for Collaborative Education(CFCE), a state-of-the-art learning environment where students, employees and the broader community can work together in ways that transcend traditional concepts of education. With the money from all of the Rotary Clubs in Durham Region and also from Port Hope, Durham College will be naming a significant place in the new building after Rotary.

Draw Winner Dave Andrews drew the Four of Spades.

HAPPY BUCKS:

Bob Stewart attended a hockey tournament where his daughter’s team did very well. He shared a couple of amusing stories.

Sue MacKinnon is happy that the tsunami warning for Vancouver and coast of BC did not amount to anything.

Dave Andrews is happy about welcoming another new member. Welcome, Chris!

Ted Morrison gave $5 Happy Bucks – He had his last physiotherapy appointment today. Now he just has to exercise at home. He is also very excited about the programme that Fred Mandryk is going to talk about tonight.

Sandy McDowell’s son is very happy that the Patriots won.

Sonya Thompson noted that Oshawa Express is advertising for Advertising Sales people and Sonya might apply.

Bob Koski is very happy that the Eagles made the Super Bowl.

Mike McLaren has been doing a diet cleanse – mostly fruits and vegetables – in one week he has lost 7 lbs.
