ACE OF SPADES:
Bev picked ticket #472 and Ted Morrison claimed it was his number, even though he ‘supposedly’ misplaced the stub. Since he is a trustworthy fellow, we let him have a chance at the Ace. Unfortunately, he picked the 6 of Hearts. The pot grows.
HAPPY BUCKS:
Robbie. Happy to have his 10x10 shed re-roofed. It was an experience. Robbie used this opportunity to show his 2 daughters how to do a bit of home maintenance. It was a slow, hot job but 14 hours later he had a new roof.
Robert K. Speaking of home maintenance … Mr. K crossed 2 jobs off his list. Painting the garage door frame – both inside and out to prepare for the wonderful new door that hopefully will be installed soon.
Emmy. A happy/sad buck tonight. Emmy’s second family - who took him in when he was in Kitchener, had a sad gathering that was a happy event. His second Dad passed away last week, and the family had a wonderful celebration of his life. They told stories, laughed, and cried. It was beautiful.
Ted. Welcomed Donald back from Nigeria and bragged about that shiny new Buick Denali he picked up today. There are lots of bells and whistles, and one he especially likes is that each driver can preprogram their seat positions, etc. Ted got a bit of ribbing from Tess because Ted is driver # 1 and Sharon is driver # 2. We got a good laugh at Ted’s expense.
Dave M. Rachel and he bought their first vacation trailer near Minden. He also welcomed Donald home.
SPEAKER: MS Laura Oliver,

Tess introduced Laura Oliver the Fund Development and Communications Manager of Luke's Place. She is a talented and driven fund development and communications manager with experience and proven success in fundraising, brand and event marketing, and multi-channel communications. Laura is no stranger to service. Prior to Luke's Place, Laura spent ten years in public service working for the MPP of Ajax, Joe Dickson as his Executive Assistant at Queen's Park, and his constituency office. Laura is committed to gender equality and women's empowerment and is committed to the fight to end gender-based violence.
Luke’s Place was founded because of the tragic death of Luke, a 3 1⁄2 year old boy, killed by his father during his first unsupervised access visit. Following Luke’s death, professionals and survivors in Durham Region explored solutions for addressing the difficulties experienced by women survivors and their children. These meetings led to a community conference. One of the recommendations of the conference was to develop a resource centre for women leaving violent relationships and dealing specifically with custody and access issues. Luke’s Place Support and Resource Centre for Women and Children was incorporated in December 2000 and begin delivering services in September 2003. Initially Luke’s Place served the greater Durham region but now serves clients throughout Ontario.
