Members should start thinking about who they sold tickets to last year. Members were encouraged to think about possible sponsors for this event. Robbie has secured Miles Goacher of Goacher Wealth Management as a platinum sponsor. Dave has supplied everyone with the silent auction items and ticket sales lists from last year, and sample “ask” letters, and promo posters for this year.

Ted reminded members that they should be on the lookout for silent auction items. May 8 will be here before we know it.

INDUCTION OF OUR NEWEST MEMBER:

Congratulations and welcome to Camille Miquel Farfan, our newest member. Camille was introduced by the Rotary Information Committee (Ted Morrison, Lennis Trotter and Dave Andrews) and Vice President David Mankiewicz.

SPEAKERS:   Board of Directors Update to the Club

David Penney summarized our International Service activities: Shelter Box, Burundi Ambulance, School rebuild in Uganda, water project in Uganda, Adopt A Village water project in Laos, cancer screening mobile van in India, WAKAM public health malaria initiative in Western Kenya, and along with R.C. of Bowmanville working to improve maternal and child health care in Uganda.

David Andrews reviewed the activities of our Public Relations Committee: working to obtain R.C. Excellence Award from Rotary International. We are maintaining our social media digital communications, working with Oshawa and Durham region media, updating our Club Brochure, and are using our new R.C. Of Oshawa-Parkwood sandwich boards. We continue to  maintain a presence in Oshawa Chamber of Commerce Directory, and we hope to design and offer for sale RC of Oshawa-Parkwood shirts.
