Their Mission is to produce and offer comprehensive Labour Market Information to our stakeholders, to facilitate workforce solutions by engaging community partners and employers and to encourage development and maintenance of a sustainable and dynamic workforce. It was so nice to be able to have a whole hour for our Zoom meeting. We look forward to 2021 with your help. THANK YOU.

February 9 is our club’s Quarantine Day Party (Valentine’s Day under quarantine) (regular weekly Zoom meeting and time 7 to 8 pm). Have a red bottle of wine out and a favourite drink recipe ready too.
Congratulation to John Burns , our Assistant Governor and member of the Rotary Club of Bowmanville. As of January 31, John will be the Rotary District 7070 Governor for 2023-24.
Our joint venture with the Rotary Club of Oshawa Christmas Tree Sale will net our club close to $3,300.
Our Club Membership Committee Meeting is January 26 at 5:15 pm on Zoom
The Rotary Club of Toronto is hosting an online 3-week series of dynamic speakers (January 22, January 29 and February 5 from 12:15 – 1:30 p.m. EST) sharing their experiences of Racism in Canada and promoting positive paths forward. This is meant to build awareness of and insight into the prevalence and impacts of racism and to stimulate ideas to help be a part of the solution. The series will be presented live on YouTube or you can view after using the links below.

Put your empties to work for your Community after the Stay At Home order when it is safe to do so. Proceeds will support Rotary community service projects.
Members of the Rotary Club of Oshawa and the Rotary Club of Oshawa-Parkwood have joined forces to raise money for the community. SAVE YOUR EMPTIES NOW and donate them when it is safe to do so. Anything the Beer Stores and LCBO Stores accept !!! . Thank you everyone.
OUR REGULAR WEEKLY MEETINGS STILL ON ZOOM AND WILL NOT BE AT THE OSHAWA GOLF CLUB UNTIL FURTHER NOTICE.
We will let you know when and if we return to the Oshawa Golf Club. As it stands right now, the Oshawa Golf Club is not hosting any outside organizations (such as ourselves) at the present time.

Thank you to several members of our Rotary Club who have stepped up and are volunteering for the Monday delivery by our Rotary Club. We are so proud of our club members for volunteering to help with this service to our community.

This is your chance to hear from some District 7070 Clubs that are successfully Growing Rotary in this current situation. TUESDAY TALKS: FEBRUARY 9 (7 to 8 pm) - Conflict Resolution - Understanding Your Conflict Management Style - Speaker is Gayle Wiebe Oudeh , Director, Coaching & Training - Centre for Conflict Resolution International
How we approach and deal with conflict can make the difference between resolving a conflict quickly or causing it to escalate dramatically. Yet we don’t always think about how we should respond to a conflict – we just react! This session will focus on the five different approaches people take to conflict using the metaphor of birds. Are you a woodpecker, owl, hummingbird, parakeet or ostrich? There’s a time and place for each style. Find out how you can resolve conflicts more effectively by adjusting and adapting your conflict management style! GREAT LAKES WATERSHED CLEANUP – APRIL 24, 2021:
The plan is for all clubs, not only our District, but in all of the Districts surrounding the Great Lakes, to participate !. Plans are underway to team up with all Clubs/Districts within the Great Lakes watershed on April 24, 2021 to clean up the shores of our waterways. Save the date! President Sue is looking at cleaning up a portion of the Oshawa Creek Valley near the Children’s area, as a possible project for our club. Details will follow. Perhaps with the Oshawa Rotary Club too. We are encouraging all Rotary Club members to join the Facebook Group by clicking here.
Rotary Leadership Institute - On Zoom for 2020-21 - Register Today for the February 2021 Part III
The Rotary Leadership Institute (RLI) has a mission to strengthen Rotary clubs through quality leadership education. As Rotarians, you are already a leader in your community and in your profession. The purpose of RLI is to give you the skills and competencies to be an effective leader in Rotary. Rotarians new to Rotary and even those with many years of service will benefit from learning how we can create strong clubs with vibrant members who are engaged and committed to Service Above Self. Now more than ever, the world needs Rotarians to create a more peaceful and equitable world for all.

COVID-19 WEEKLY UPDATE FROM DR. KRIS SACHDEVA:
ThIS WEEK Kris talked about 500,000 deaths in the USA estimated by the end of February. He also talked about the vaccine shortage in Canada until the end of January as well. He talked about this vaccine being a MNRA vaccine and how is reacts to produce anitbodies to attack the virus. He also mentioned the next vaccine out soon from Astra Zenica. Canada’s supply of vaccine will be delayed until the 2nd or 3rd week of February. A lively discussion took place regarding the various vaccines and overall effectiveness, as well as individuals we know that have been vaccinated.
