Club Welfare - Club Administration Committee – Robbie Larocque
Member Welfare
includes remembering our widows and shut ins at Christmas and other times; sending a card or calling members who have not been at a meeting recently Lennis Trotter is very good at this
Program/Speakers – Dave Andrews has speakers and/or special events scheduled for most of the first six months CHECK THE CLUB CALENDAR . few open dates so if you know of a potential speaker ask Dave for a date, make the contact and confirm, get contact info; Dave has a standard letter which he will send to speakers. Be prepared to introduce/thank a speaker; Dave can usually provide a bio
Rotary Moment suggest we use this for updates from Board, short Classification talks. Suggestion made that we could start business portion while still eating ie sharp @7
Presidents’ Note We (Oshawa Parkwood) are very fortunate to have Dave Andrews (Mr Rotary) as a member but we need to remember that he is a very busy Rotaarian, with work at the District and local level. His nature is to say “I’ll do that”; we need to say “No, let me do it, I appreciate your help and will ask”.
Fellowship/Social times/Fun - One date per month has been set aside for these events – what should they be – seems to be a lack of interest in some activities; we need your ideas Canadian Brewhouse has been suggested for July or August
Meeting Venue/Meals - Oshawa Golf Club offers the right atmosphere for Rotarys’ status in the world.I believe that is very important to maintain. There really is no suitable alternative. Let’s look at the facts. The Golf Club gives us this room, storage of our banners, flags and,name tag board, briefcase (and other paraphanalia, setting up same prior to each meeting), our meal including tax and gratuity–for $27.00/person. we recognize your concerns about some of the meals.
Comments/ideas – compare prices in restaurants these days; suggest we inquire about cost of a special meal (buffet) for when we have a special event; ordering from the regular menu worked for us but made concerns expressed by Holly. Sue will follow up appropriately. Lennis Trotter expressed the opinion that “food should not be the main highlight of a Rotary meeting!”; Dave Penney supported this opinion.
Ordering Meals – Janice Coupland will send a reminder email to all Friday Evening/Saturday morning – it is the responsibility of each member to respond with their order if attending; there will be NO follow up reminder;
Committee Budgets/Proposed Spending – fundraising – Ways and Means meeting as announced – any member may attend

Prior to closing the meeting Ted Morrison presented President Hilda with her Paul Harris+4pin for her continuing donations to The Rotary Foundation
President Hilda closed the meeting at 8pm.
