Alan Finnigan would like to provide an update on fertilizer sales
Colin Carrie (a Rotarian in our Rotary Club of Oshawa-Parkwood) is hosting a virtual town hall meeting on Zoom on Wednesday at 7 pm on Fraud with the Rotary Club of Oshawa’s Martin Franssen. Be sure to sign up tonight. Rotarians really are #PeopleOf Action – Here are two Oshawa Rotarians helping the citizens of Oshawa.
Board meeting April 7 @ 7:00pm – new Board Members are encouraged to attend, anyone can attend but not vote. IMPORTANT MEETING, financial decisions!
KSV meeting is Monday, April 12 at 7:00pm via zoom
Watershed cleanup April 24 – we may have a few t-shirts given to us to help promote Rotary and City of Oshawa email me to advise gloves and garbage bags will now be available. Just need pickers!
May 12 – 8-9pm - Rotary Foundation Gala, virtual, cost is $110.00 US
Our district conference is June 25 and 26; cost is only $10. Several shelter boxes have been purchased and there will be an opportunity to visit the tents and do some pretend camping…sing songs and have a beverage on Friday night. Saturday morning is via zoom and on Saturday afternoon, community engagement! I am waiting to hear if we have been successful in obtaining a $500. Grant and it will be used to host a bike raffle, possibly more with Mary St. Public School.

SPEAKERS: Donna McFarlane, Senior Advisor, Durham Region Hospice and Eva Reti, Chair, Board of Directors, Durham Region Hospice – Whitby

Eva Reti, Chair, Board of Directors, Durham Region Hospice – Whitby - Eva has been a member of the Board of Durham Region Hospice – Whitby for six years and became Chair in November of 2020. Eva’s passion for bringing a hospice residence to Whitby is a result of her experience with her Mom and the whole family at ARCH hospice in Sault Ste. Marie. Eva lives in Whitby and has held a number of volunteer positions including the Whitby Public Library Board. Eva is a retired Inspector from the Durham Regional Police where she had a distinguished career serving the citizens of the Region.
Donna McFarlane, Senior Advisor, Durham Region Hospice - Leading the fundraising efforts for bringing a hospice residence to Whitby, Donna has lived in Whitby for almost 50 years. Her two children were raised here and now also her six grandchildren. Her career included ten years as a stay at home Mom, 25 years with Ontario Power Generation and nine years at Durham College. Fundraising became a passion in 2008 when she was working at Durham College. She moved Grandview Children’s Centre in 2014 and is now leading the efforts for Durham Region Hospice.

In the true spirit of Rotary, Oshawa Rotarian Arthur Lovell and his sister Diana Lovell Kirk , of Lovell Drugs donated $100,000 to Hospice this past week!
