LAND ACKNOWLEDGEMENT

We respectfully acknowledge that we are hosting this Rotary Club of Oshawa-Parkwood meeting from land within the jurisdiction of Williams Treaties and on the traditional territory of the Mississaugas of Scugog Island First Nations, the Anishnaabe, the Chippewa, the Haudenosaunee and the Wendat peoples. This acknowledgement reminds us of our responsibilities to our relationships and the ancestral lands on which we learn, share and live.

MAR 8 – International Women’s Day – LIVE at Rotary Global Classroom at Durham College at 6 pm OR online at 7 PM. Come embrace women and equity in the district as we celebrate the women of Rotary District 7070! We gather March 8th @ 6pm in the Rotary Global Classroom at Durham College in a hybrid setting (In person and online) to celebrate fellowship and hear from female leaders of Rotary District 7070. 

Reception from 6 to 7 pm. Broadcast starts at 7 pm. IN PERSON Registration fee of $15.00 payable to jdeboer@rogers.com in advance. 

MAR 12 - Regular Meeting – tentative – 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM . NO MEETING AT OSHAWA GOLF CLUB  

 Our Club's St Patrick's Day Party – SPOUSES INVITED  at Fionn McCool’s, 214 Ritson Rd , Oshawa. Thank you Jan Coupland  for arranging. 

MAR 16 (Saturday evening starting at 5 pm ) Bingo at the Red Barn – Linda, Dave A and Brady

We really need one volunteer for Bingo on Saturday, March 16. Please see Linda. Thank you.

March 29 & 30—Easter Eggstravaganza at the Kids Safety Village—lots of Rotary volunteers will be needed !!! Details and timing following soon. Please be ready to sign up .

APR 27 - 2024 ROTARY GREAT LAKES WATARSHED CLEANUP:

Great Lakes Water Cleanup – 9:30 am to 11:30 am at The Second Marsh with Oshawa and Courtice  Rotary Clubs. Please let Dave know as soon as possible if you are attending. Bring your own water (in a reusable bottle) and a picker if you have one. Wear boots. It will be wet walking. 9 Civic Leaders so far will be attending. Park along Col Sam Drive near Second marsh sign (on south side of road).

 

REMINDERS:

Dave A reminded everyone that he has Reverse Draw Tickets for us and that the marketing material he has provided for us should be utilized. Get your Silent Auction items as soon as you can and send photo and retail price and donor name to Dave A so he can create posters.

REMINDER: from David A.– our newest fundraiser Maple Syrup Sales.  Delivery is in March.  Our Club logo is on every bottle (750 ml). Sells for $20 per bottle. Gift certificates are available.

Linda Porritt won the Ace of Spades raffle and drew the 2 of Diamonds. Maybe next time ? The pot grows.  

 

HAPPY TWOONIES:

Bill Creamer—enjoyed watching his granddaughter dance and do flips.

Irina Roudenko – her daughter won a girl’s award of kindness. Pleased to see Laura and Sam.

Bob Koski watched men’s golf. Rory McIlroy hit it out of water on the 16th—amazing.

Dave Andrews hope to see our guests Samantha and Laura from Parkwood tonight. .

Brittania –happy to feel welcome at club.

Robbie L. his daughter helped at KSV.

John K.—happy to donate to keep Dave P. from coming back to his table again. Dave P says, “whatever it takes.”
