Land Acknowledgement:

We respectfully acknowledge that we are hosting this Rotary Club of Oshawa-Parkwood meeting from land within the jurisdiction of Williams Treaties and on the traditional territory of the Mississaugas of Scugog Island First Nations, the Anishnaabe, the Chippewa, the Haudenosaunee and the Wendat peoples. This acknowledgement reminds us of our responsibilities to our relationships and the ancestral lands on which we learn, share and live.

ACE OF SPADES:        Hilda Finnigan had the winning ticket. She drew the 3 of Clubs. Robert Kipling donated two hard cover table books for the consolation prize.

HAPPY BUCKS:

Larry Hurren - glad to be back, but life is better at the lake.

David Penney - flew to Arizona - had many challenges in the airports

Bill Creamer - volunteered  at the Kids’ Safety Village Hallowe’en event and was amazed by the attendance!

Sue MacKinnon - flew to Vancouver and LA - had challenges at Pearson with delays & luggage. However, there were no problems at all at Vancouver and LA airports. Had a wonderful trip.

Dave Andrews - happy to see our DRPS contacts here this evening.

Linda Porritt - thanks to those who came out for the Planning session on Saturday. Craig is home from the hospital and doing well.

Ted Morrision - squirrels stole the insulation from the top of the hood of his vehicle, and it cost him $112 to replace!

- Nov. 17th at the Officers’ Mess of the Armouries. Night of 1,000 Dinners to benefit Canadian Landmines Association, Speaker Dr. Alistair Edgar, President of the Association. Tickets are $100. We will have 7 or 8 in attendance. Night of a Thousand Dinners – Canadian landmine Foundation -  hosted by the Rotary Club of Oshawa at the Officers mess of the Ontario Regiment, Simcoe & Richmond Streets. Refreshments at 6 pm . Dinner at 7 pm. Cost $100.00 per person. Please join The Rotary Club of Oshawa for this year's dinner on November 17, 2022  (Cash bar at 6:00 pm followed by Dinner  at 7:00 pm in the Officer's Mess, The Armouries of The Ontario Regiment, Simcoe Street, Oshawa.) This year's distinguished speaker will be Dr Alistair Edgar, President of the Canadian Landmines Foundation and a professor at Wilfrid Laurier University.  He will bring a world wide view given that he has flown over a million miles on humanitarian issues. Ticket price for a wonderful meal in genteel surroundings is $100 with a tax receipt for the amount above cost. -Nov 18th Cobourg Rotary Club’s 100th Anniversary Lunch. Cost is $50/person.

 

Ted Morrision:

- Kids Against Hunger Food Packing Nov 5th. Be there at 7:30 am if you are helping with table set up. Otherwise attend at 8:30 am, and we should be finished by 12:30 pm, with lunch to follow.

NOV 28 - District Governor Iosif Ciosa Official Visit to the 2 Rotary Clubs in Oshawa – 11:45 am to 1:30 pm, Wendel Clark’s Restaurant, 67 Simcoe St N, Oshawa, ON L1G 4S3. A luncheon meeting. - Need Bulletin Editors for the new year, starting in January

- Saturday, December 3, 2022 at a Gift Raiser for Sharon’s Kids. Breakfast is available between 8:00 am and 10:00 am bring an unwrapped gift for teenagers and get your drive thru breakfast at the Crooked Uncle located at 1180 Simcoe Street North. Sharon’s Kids breakfast and collection of gift donations. The focus this year is ages 13+.. The event is a drive through 8 am to 10 am. Enter the parking lot off of Orchard View

Lennis Trotter:

- Hallowe’en at the Safety Village. 6,000 in attendance. Distributed $3,000 in candy. A great event.

- Nov. 7th is the Kids’ Safety Village Board Annual General Meeting at 2 pm.at the Village.

- November 24 ,25 and 26 & Dec 1,2 and 3 - will need volunteers to setup and be in attendance at the Kids’ Safety Village Christmas event.
