Past District Governor Ted Morrrison attended the Annual General Meeting of the Rotary District 7070  / Annual District 7070 Rotary Foundation Dinner at the Oshawa Golf Club with President Linda Porritt and Dave Andrews and 55 other Rotary Club Presidents and their Clubs' Rotary Foundation Chairs. As Chair of the District 7070 Rotary Foundation Annual Programs Fund, Ted spoke to the District 7070 Club Presidents and urged them to remind their members of the importance of giving to the Annual Programs Fund.

Past District Governor Ted Morrrison also announced that at the Rotary Foundation Dinner, The Rotary Club of Oshawa-Parkwood received three prestigious awards from District 7070:

  1. Third Place in the District 7070 's Top Three Highest Per Capita Annual Giving to The Rotary Foundation (note: our average per capita giving was $227.05; second place went to Scarborough at $264.79 and first palce went to Scarborough Twilight with $332.99 in annual givings

  2. The End Polio Now: Countdown to History Campaign Certificate of Appreciation for giving a minimum of US $1,500 to End Polio
  3. The 2017-18 Rotary Presidential Citation with distinction!

Past Pres Dave Andrews – Thank you ALL. We have SOLD OUT on the Big Game 53 (Superbowl) tickets from the Rotary E Club of Southern Ontario Western New York .Just one more person to collect ticket stubs , and a few more people to bring in the funds. HERE IS THE MAJOR DEADLINE:  WE NEED  to have money and ticket stubs returned by November 20.  THERE ARE NO EXCEPTIONS. EARLIER IF YOU CAN, WOULD BE MOST APPRECIATED.

Past Pres and Director of International Service Kris Sachdeva announced an International Service Committee Meeting at 5:15pm, November 20.  Members are:  Robert Kipling, Bob Koski, Dave Andrews, Pat Dyck, Devon Biddle, Larry Hurren, Stanley and Janice Coupland.

The Battle of the Bobs - Bob Koski and Robert Kipling , both very staunch supporters of the Winnipeg Blue Bombers and the Saskatchewan Roughriders , respectively, had a little wager on the Playoff game  Loser was to donate $20.00 to the Rotary Foundation.    Thank you Robert Kipling. Devon returns next week and he will be happy to collect..

Community Service Chair and Director Janice Coupland announced an opportunity for our club members to do some hands-on volunteer service at the Health Mission Outreach Free Dental Clinic at Durham College . The Health Mission Outreach is hosting it’s second free Dental/Health Clinic at Durham College on Saturday November 24, 2018 (10am – 4pm). Durham College’s Dental, Nursing, Paramedic and Child Youth Coordination programs will be volunteering. Over 20 HMO volunteer Dentists and Durham College’s Dental Hygiene students together will be providing treatment. The Rotary Club has volunteered with the Health Mission Outreach on a number of missions internationally and locally over the years. On June 17, 2017 they helped and treated over 162 vulnerable community members in need, without access to dental care. Pres Linda - advised  On Friday, November 16, 2018, the Canadian Liver Foundation GTA Chapter will host the 17th annual LIVERight Gala at The Westin Harbour Castle Hotel. This fabulous fundraising event is in support of children and youth affected by liver disease. Individual Tickets: $200 (Includes hors d’oeuvres, three-course dinner, live auction, and an exclusive performance by Tia Brazda). Table of 10: $2,000 (Includes hors d’oeuvres, three-course dinner for 10 people, live auction, and an exclusive performance by Tia Brazda)Doors open at 6:00 PM. Program starts at 7:00 PM

 

Pres Linda - NOV 21 – Night of A Thousand Dinners – Proceeds to  the Canadian Landmine Foundation 6:30 pm , Officers' Mess, Ontario Regiment, Simcoe Street North.  Tickets $75.00  per person. Fundraiser for Canadian Landmine Foundation by the Oshawa Rotary Club. Call Ron Dick for tickets at 905-728-4550 and at ron@rddfsi.ca. Many Rotary Clubs contribute directly to this organization. If we wish to partner with the Oshawa Rotary Club, Ron would be very happy to talk with us about the possibilities. Rotary of Oshawa is having a fundraiser on November 21 to support Canada Landmine Foundation .  Cost is $75.00
