We respectfully acknowledge that we are hosting this Rotary Club of Oshawa-Parkwood meeting from land within the jurisdiction of Williams Treaties and on the traditional territory of the Mississaugas of Scugog Island First Nations, the Anishnaabe, the Chippewa, the Haudenosaunee and the Wendat peoples. Rotary Leadership Institute - “In Person” has been cancelled for the fall of 2023. It will be held on ZOOM. Parts One Two and Three will be held on line. Part Three from 6 to 8 pm on November 8, 15, and 22. The Spring 2024 RLI will hopefully be held at Centennial College Event Centre, 937 Progress Ave, Scarborough, ON M1G 3T8, in late March or early April.
NOV 18 – District 7070 Rotary Foundation Workshop – 8:30 am to 2 PM - Oshawa & District Shrine Club, 1626 Simcoe St N, Oshawa. The Rotary Foundation seminar. This is your opportunity to learn a great deal of information about your Foundation. Learn how money is raised and where it goes. Learn about District grants, what they are used for and how to apply. NOV 27 - District Governor John Burns Official Visit to the 2 Rotary Clubs in Oshawa – 11:45 am to 1:30 pm, Wendel Clark’s Restaurant, 67 Simcoe St N, Oshawa, ON L1G 4S3. A luncheon meeting. Joint meeting of the two Rotary Clubs here in Oshawa. Our Nov 28 meeting is cancelled.
DEC 1 and 2 AND DEC 7 & 8: Christmas at the Kids Safety Village - We need lots of volunteers from our club for all four evenings. Save the dates and the volunteer list will be around very soon.
DEC 2 – Breakfast to support Sharon’s Kids, at the Crooked Uncle. A no charge Drive Thru breakfast - just bring a gift. DEC 10 – Concert for Feed The Need in Durham – The 11 Rotary Clubs in Durham Region invite everyone in Rotary, Rotaract clubs and the whole Rotary family in District 7070 in southern to the 6th Annual Concert for Feed The Need in Durham. Arranged by Joe Solway, Rotary Club of Bowmanville.

The Concert to Feed the Need in Durham is a co-presentation of Rotary clubs of Durham Region and Feed the Need in Durham. It brings together award winning musicians from across the Region in support of Feed the Need in Durham, which collects and distributes food to over 65 emergency food providers across Durham, including food banks, shelters, meal and snack programs and other social service agencies. Feed the Need in Durham provides over 1.5M meals to Durham residents annually.
Ted Morrison announced that the Cakes/Hams have been ordered. Arrival on or around November 27, 2023.
Sue announced that we are working with The Jube and Participation House for a Christmas Lunch being held on December 5, 2023. 18 participants so far. Lunch is $30.00 per person - please bring the correct change to Hilda on Nov 21. E-transfer for this event will also be an option.
Sue is exploring the possibility of our Christmas Party to be held on December 12 with a possible venue of Larry’s Condo Party Room. Confirmation and details to follow.
Robert K. reminded the Club of an upcoming concert at the Simcoe Street United Church on December 20, 2023. The Professors of Funk will be performing tickets are priced at $25.00 general admission and $50.00 reserved seats. It's the return of the Professors of Funk Friends & Family Christmas Special! Established in 2014, this annual concert for the Back Door Mission quickly became reknowned as one of Oshawa and Durham's signature holiday events and we're setting the stage again for an unforgettable experience. Lennis Trotter provided a Report on the Safety Village Conference held recently with 25 delegates attending show and tell at the Village. Sadly, two safety villages have closed in Ontario. Lennis advised that the Halloween event was host to some 7000 participants with over $3000.00 being collected.

Dave Andrews was very please with the Remembrance Day Parade, a wonderful day.
Bob Stewart told a story about “Crazy Legs” and reminiscing of his High School days, while talking to some young football players and their Coach.
Hilda shared that she was visiting her daughter and giving out knitted materials recently.
Linda was happy to have attended the Remembrance Day parade, no political speeches a wonderful day.
Hilda was very proud to hear the Chadburn Squadron representative, a very well worded address.
David P. is happy to have gotten Eagles tickets! He was sad to learn they cost $400.00 CDN each.
Ted is concerned about his grand daughter McKenzie.
Ted noted that the local Remembrance Day parade did not have any coverage of Indigenous presentation(s).
John Kellam is heading to the Cottage with the weather as good as is predicted in the coming days.
John Kellam was happy to have had a recent coffee paid for! ‘Pay it Forward.’
Al Finnigan was very happy to have watched the Remembrance Day parade on Channel 10 great coverage.
Larry Hurren explained the ‘Pay it Forward’ concept.
Bob Koski is happy that Winnipeg is in the Grey Cup
