ANNOUNCEMENTS

Dec 14  - RC of Oshawa Parkwood Christmas party at Harpo’s restaurant in Oshawa. 3 entrees to choose from- beef, salmon or chicken . cost is determined by what you order off the menu. Separate billing. Cocktails 5:30 dinner at 6:30

Ted thanked the members for their tremendous support selling cakes and hams. We ordered 232 hams and 179 cakes (so far). Our pick up is scheduled for Nov 29 in Oakville and Toronto. They will be at Bill Creamer’s home for pickup.

Kids Safety Village will be decorated for Christmas ( 5 pm to 8 pm on Nov 26, 27 and 28  and again on December 2,3 and 4, with Dec 5 as the date for the clints and families of Grandview Children’s Centre)  Volunteers for the evenings as indicated. Please let Hilda Finnigan or Lennis Trotter know when you can put in a volunteer shift or two.  Members volunteering at the Kids Safety Village for Christmas activities need a police safety check. Hilda hand out the forms to fill out.

November 30 is a spouses night where we will hear a story of survival and medical miracle. Please let Hilda know if your spouse is coming and what meal they will have .

President David reminded everyone that  Dec 7 will be our Annual General Meetings of our Rotary Club of Oshawa-Parkwood and our Oshawa Parkwood Rotary Club Charitable Foundation where we will select our next year’s President and Directors. Next year’s President and Board will be elected.

From Past Pres Sue: Christmas tree sales will commence December 3 and continue until we are sold out.  Sale Times: Sat and Sun shift-hours will be:  noon to 3:30 pm AND 3:30pm to 7:00pm; Weekday hours will be 3:00pm to 5:00pm and 5:00pm to 7:00pm. PLEASE VOLUNTEER. SIGN UP WITH SUE!   Please call Sue and she will sign you up for a shift or two or three. Thank you.

Happy Bucks 

David Mankiewicz sold his house. Now living in Whitby. Thankful to Linda Porritt for selling his house so quickly

Sue was sad because she had to cancel her trip to Macy’s in the US in order to stay home and sell Christmas trees. What a sacrifice!!

Linda happy that she was able to sell David’s house. She and Craig went into Toronto for a dinner and a movie. This was their first trip into Toronto in 2 years.

Al was glad to have a great chat with Bob Wallace over dinner

David A. happy to Bob in Person.

Anna was happy to find a lost earing in a friend’s boot.

David P was glad he went on his river cruise when he did three of the countries he visited are now in lockdown.

 Hilda was glad to see Bob Wallace back at our club

Bob Stewart is glad he has another birthday on Thursday.

Ted Morrison introduced Bob Wallace.

Bob talked about The Rotary Foundation and encouraged us to apply for grants because “its our money”.

He showed our club’s contributions over the last 5 years.

He reviewed the seven areas of focus.

He also mentioned that last week we had two cases of polio-- the first since January. Although this is a small set back , we must be encouraged that we went 10 months without a single case.

Linda Porritt  thanked Bob Wallace.
