REMINDER: to those who pledged $$$ to the Presidents Walk to pay at the Front Desk as soon as possible (list has been misplaced!!!). For every Dollar that you personally donate, anytime, during this Rotary year, to the Rotary Foundation Annual Programs Fund, our Rotary Club will match that amount to a maximum of $3,200 USD. Remember our goal “A Mill for Bill”. (list has been misplaced!!!)
David Andrews - all superbowl draw tickets are out and since none have been returned, we thank everyone for selling them ALL. We are assisting the Rotary E Club of Southern Ontario / Western New York sell the “Big Game 54 “ lottery tickets. It is now TIME to get the stubs in and the money into our bank and to the Rotary E Club. Please get your ticket stubs and money into Dave as soon as you can. We need to get the stubs back to the E Cub as soon as possible and get them into the draw. This has been an excellent fundraiser for our club. Thanks to everyone who did all of the selling.
David Andrews - October 24 – World Polio Day – Please REGISTER AS SOON AS YOU CAN. SIGN THE LIST OR SEND DAVE AN EMAIL TODAY. THE EVENT: 5:00 pm to 9:00 pm - joint meeting of Durham Region Rotary Clubs in the new Global Classroom in the new Centre for Collaborative Education at Durham College where we will celebrate World Polio Day with leaders from around the world. Cash bar and sandwiches will be served. Cost ($30.00) per person (a portion will be donated to The Rotary Foundation's Polio Eradication Initiative and will credited to your next Paul Harris Fellow.) Spouses, guests and prospective members and all clubs in District 7070 are invited. We will see the live Rotary International livestream event and we will also livestream our event live to Rotary Clubs and to Universities and colleges worldwide. All clubs in the District are invited. Proclamations from City and Region to our clubs. Dr. Bob Scott, immediate past chair of Rotary’s PolioPlus Committee (worldwide) will be our keynote speaker and he will connect with Dr. Tunji Funsho, chairman of Rotary's Nigeria National PolioPlus Committee and others from around the world . END POLIO NOW Flag raising at Durham Region Headquarters, 605 Rossland Rd E, Whitby, ON L1N 6A3 at 11 am Oct 21. Please join us and be there by 10:30 am as fellow Rotarian and Regional Chair John Henry and the 10 Rotary Clubs in Durham Region raise the END POLIO NOW flag which will fly all week , including October 24, World Polio Day.
END POLIO NOW Flag raising at City Hall Oshawa Headquarters at 1 pm on Oct 22. Please join us and be there by 12:30 pm am as Mayor Dan Carter and City officials and the 2 Rotary Cubs in Oshawa raise the END POLIO NOW flag which will fly all week , including October 24, World PolioDay.
Pres Lennis - reminded us of the need for volunteers for "Hallowe'en Haunt at the Kids Safety Village". Several of our members will be attending the District Conference at that time. REMINDER: Volunteers needed for Hallowe'en and Christmas events at the Kids Safety Village: HALLOWE’EN HAUNT AT THE KIDS’ SAFETY VILLAGE: October 25 and 26 at the Kids Safety Village from 5 to 8 p.m. at the Kids Safety Village, 1129 Athol St., Whitby. This is an S.O.S to our club members: many of our club members will be at the Rotary District Conference at the same time. We will need about 8 volunteers from our Rotary Club on both nights (if you are not going to the District Conference). Please volunteer and let Robbie Larocque know if you can help.

David Andrews - Oshawa Media Debate 2019 for the Federal Riding of Oshawa on Oct. 3 at the Oshawa Golf and Curling Club was well attended and was a great Public Relations success for Oshawa Parkwood Rotary Club, and a great service to the community as it will be shown on Rogers TV Durham several times before Oct 21, so that the citizens of Oshawa can make an informed decision when they go to the polls. ROTARY MOMENT
This week’s Moment was Rotary Fellowship. Following a Thanksgiving Buffet Dinner which was enjoyed by all . Janice Coupland started the fun with a Thanksgiving Quiz - we will not know the outcome of this until October 15th. Thank you, Heather Drakes, for a rousing game of progressive (well mostly!!) game of euchre. Some were not familiar with the game and some had not played recently There were many laughs, a few sad faces but all in all a good time was had.
