Larry – Said that all the people he approached to volunteer for the Reverse Draw evening responded favourably to his request.
Sue – is happy she’ll be on vacation as of Friday. She’s going to Amsterdam and will visit with her daughter.
Kris– Thanked everyone for picking the winning ticket. He also admonished the Sargeant At Arms for losing control during Happy Bucks and that everyone should pay $1.
Robbie – Happy that he and his son could enjoy bonding time together planting trees.
Guest Barb – Thanked Janice for having her as a guest.
Tim – Went to Lakeridge Hospital where they performed a cardio inversion, which means they stopped his heart and rebooted it. He said he joined the flat-liners club but was glad to be back and it’s not a trip he’d recommend.
Bob Stewart – said he too had his heart stopped and restarted a while ago after a sneeze on the golf course went bad. His most recent folly was a bid at the horse races that won him $140 by an unexpected bet.
Robert Kipling – Told of the annual Book Sale by the Friends of the Oshawa Public Library to be held Thurs from 9 am to 7:30 pm, and Friday and Saturday from 9am to 4:30 pm. There’s lots of deals to be had with books going for $2…
Mike – He is happy his oldest daughter wants to go on tour as a professional golfer but sad that it costs $110,000 to do, so he will be poor. He is looking for donations to help her in her endeavour.
Dave – It was a good time on Sunday planting trees and lots of press was there. In fact, Kris walked into a photo and while the cameras were rolling all dressed in his Rotary paraphernalia, so it was good PR for Rotary.
Ted – It was a sad buck for Ted who said his family and he spent the day at Sick Kids Hospital after his grandson suffered a skull fracture and brain bleed when he fell off his Gator car. Ted thinks he is out of the woods but he is keeping his fingers crossed that all goes well.

GUEST SPEAKER:
President Ted Morrison gave a talk on the Rotary Polio Campaign. We watched part of a video of Bruce Aylward of the World Health Organization from the TED Talks series. Aylward talked about the polio partnership and Rotary’s involvement to eradicate the disease. He said there were about 4 billion cases of polio worldwide when they started the campaign in 1980.
Ted spoke about how Rotary has about a million volunteers who help towards eradicating polio, including our own club members Kris and Devon with his wife Linda who traveled afar to help give polio vaccines. Ted said there are 8 cases of polio now, 7 in Afganistan and as of last week, 1 in Pakistan.
Rotary is now asking each club to donate $1,500, of which many clubs did, but not ours. He said we could donate individually to help in what is the greatest public health campaign in history – which is Rotary’s project.
