ROTARY MOMENT

None tonight.

GUEST SPEAKERS : Ted Morrison lead in a session on What is Rotary?

Past Pres Dave Andrews introduced Ted. Dave siad how lucky were are to have Ted, our Past District Governor in our Rotary Club. Ted has seen all 55 Rotary Clubs in the District and has a wealth of information that he has seen in his Rotary travels. In addition, as past Chair of the Rotary Leadership institute, Ted has facilitated this exact discussion many times. What is Rotary?

Ted first had everyone pair off and asked them to ask AND answer , one one one: What is Rotary?

We then answered what word describes Rotary and Ted wrote all of them down for us to see.

Then, we broke out into 3 groups and the three groups came up with the following answers:

  1. Rotary is serving humanity worldwide, universal followship.

Four way test, is it the truth?

Promote good health, safe water and sanitation.

Eradication of polio.

  1. Rotary is an international organization with very little overhead, where a group of professionals volunteer their time to help local communities. Internationally known for the eradication of polio. Friendship over dinner, fun and fellowship.

  2. Rotary is an organization of professionals that do a good job for the world and humanity. We live by the four way test. Our major project is to eradicate polio and polio plus in the world. We focus on 6 areas which are health, water/Sanitation, peace and conflict, resolution economic development, literacy/basic education and disease prevention. We meet regularly to share fun and fellowship and are people of action with both local and international communities. Come out for dinner…..it’s on us!

Ted handed out a handy wallet sized card called “What Is Rotary “ to everyone and asked everyone to be ready when someone, somewhere asks “What Is Rotary?'”

Ted was thanked by Treasurer and Past pres Devon Biddle.
