The Rotary Club of Oshawa-Parkwood is pleased to donate $ 15,000 , on June 12, 2025, to Lakeridge Health Foundation to assist with the surgical equipment for the new operating suite at Grandview Kids.
Lakeridge Health is partnering with Grandview Kids to create a specialized procedure room at Grandview Kid's new facility. This space will be safe, accessible, sensory-friendly, and designed specifically for kids who need minor procedures with sedation.
The new procedure room will be equipped with advanced medical devices and staffed by Lakeridge Health experts, ensuring high-quality care....
It will cost $1M to equip the space with advanced medical devices for anesthesia, surgical tools, and cardiac monitors. The $15,000 from the Rotary Club of Oshawa-Parkwood will cover the cost of an electrosurgical generator, a medical device that helps surgeons cut through tissue or stop bleeding during surgery instead of a traditional scalpel.
The new Grandview Kids procedure room will operate once per month at the onset and will be:
• Supported by Lakeridge Health experts like an anesthesiologist, paediatrician and surgical nurses
• Equipped with advanced medical devices for general and local anesthetic, as well as brand-new equipment and tools such as scissors and scalpels, suture supplies, and cardiac monitors for a variety of procedures
• A safe space, so parents and caregivers can attend procedures, hold their child’s hand and give them peace of mind - an option simply not available in other hospitals
• A safe, familiar space for Grandview Kids’ patients
