WORLD POLIO DAY 2025 in District 7070 - Recorded LIVE Broadcast on Zoom from Oshawa, Ontario, Canada
The 10 Durham Region Rotary Clubs invited the world to the LIVE ON-LINE event where we celebrated World Polio Day with leaders from around the world, hosted by the Rotary Clubs of Oshawa and Oshawa-Parkwood, and Durham College.
Thank you to everyone on the District 7070 World Polio Day 20205 team that made this possible.
We saw Proclamations from Cities in Durham Region and also from Durham Region given out to our 10 Rotary clubs together with flag raising ceremonies shown on the big screen.
THIS YEAR: Together, our Rotary International leaders updated us on Rotary's very latest efforts with our Global Polio Eradication initiative Partners to End Polio Now.
We heard from Rotary International President Francesco Arezzo, Chair of the Rotary Foundation Holger Knaack, Pakistan's PolioPlus Chair Aziz Memon and Rotary International PolioPlus Chair Mike McGovern, as they talk about our efforts to eradicate polio world-wide.
Rotary's PolioPlus Chair Mike McGovern and Vice-Chair Valarie Wafer brought us the latest news on Rotary's efforts and they both participated in a panel discussion: What can we do to eradicate polio from the planet - Rotary's promise to the children of the world in 1988 - where have we come from and where do we go from here ?
