LAND ACKNOWLEDGEMENT

We respectfully acknowledge that we are hosting this Rotary Club of Oshawa-Parkwood meeting from land within the jurisdiction of Williams Treaties and on the traditional territory of the Mississaugas of Scugog Island First Nations, the Anishnaabe, the Chippewa, the Haudenosaunee and the Wendat peoples. This acknowledgement reminds us of our responsibilities to our relationships and the ancestral lands on which we learn, share and live.

Rotary Club Annual Dues are due to our Treasurer Bill Creamer.

Ted – Announcing our newest fundraiser – Maple Syrup Sales. Start your pre-ordering now. Delivery is mid March 2024. Our Club logo on every bottle (750 ml) . Sell for $20 per bottle.

Hilda – Ploughman’s Choice Sales are going well. We will not be at the North Oshawa Farmer’s market on Aug 26 (we will be at the Autofest). We hope that Craig Porritt will help out on Aug 19 (Al and Hilda will be away).

Janice – On Aug 22, our next spouses night, we will be going to Bella Notte ( 3570 Brock St N, Whitby, ON L1N 3J4)  at 6 pm for dinner with our Rotary friends.

Rotary Leadership Institute -“In Person” has been cancelled for the fall of 2023.It will be held on ZOOM. Parts One Two and Three will be held on line. Part One: from 6 to 8 pm on Sept 13, 20 and 27. Part Two from 6 to 8 pm on Oct 11, 18 and 25. Part Three from 6 to 8 pm on November 8, 15, and 22. The Spring 2024 RLI will hopefully be held at Centennial College Event Centre,

November 5 - Kids Against Hunger packaging at the Jubilee Pavilion (about 8:30 am to 2 pm) with Oshawa, Whitby, and Whitby-Sunrise Rotary Clubs

November 27 - District Governor John Burns Official Visit to the 2 Rotary Clubs in Oshawa – 11:45 am to 1:30 pm, Wendel Clark’s Restaurant, 67 Simcoe St N, Oshawa, ON L1G 4S3. A luncheon meeting. Joint meeting of the two Rotary Clubs here in Oshawa.

ACE OF SPADES:  Bill Creamer (again) won the opportunity to draw the Ace of Spades, but instead drew the 10 of Diamonds. The jackpot grows.

HAPPY BUCKS

David Penney – A lesson for everyone. David had not used his chain saw since last year. He read the instructions, did exactly what he was supposed to do. And the chain saw started on the third pull.

Linda – tried a new local business for lunch yesterday, Street Momo at 19 Simcoe St S, Oshawa. Great food. All kinds of momos. Curry done very well. See: https://www.streetmomo.ca   .

Robert Kipling – will be up a 6 am tomorrow to watch the Women’s World Cup Soccer semi final between England and Australia. Go matildas !!!

Robbie – His daughter , now 17, got her G1 license . Super Dad went back home to Oshawa from the cottage to get her passport so she could get that G1 license. Way to go Robbie.
