SPEAKER:
Vice Pres. Janice Coupland introduced Teresa Madaleno of KTML Communications. Teresa is also an Author and a member of Soroptimists International (York Region Club) and was named Soroptimist of the Year in 2020. Teresa’s presentation title was “Raising Awareness About your Service Organization”. She gave us many tips and ideas – I will touch on the highlights as I saw them and we will send a copy of her Power Point along with this bulletin.
How to Use Social Platforms – Video is more powerful than text and image combined; don’t just post – followup and comment;
Ask opinions to generate conversation – attention span for most people is 7 seconds
use real life examples of people who benefit from our efforts – real stories and anedotes
use keywords and highlite these
tagging will alert people
use Graphics
when using hashtag remember short simple words and phrases numbers capitol letters NO symbols/punctuation
Website is a Big Asset – video should be front and centre; donate button- highlited and easy to find (1-2 seconds); less copy more images
use “call to action” words such as “Get Involved”
News Releases not just for Media – also bloggers and other influencers
talk and write about current and past partners/sponsors
self promotion – not just to give back – to make friends and be part of the community
LEARN MORE BY WATCHING THE POWER POINT FOR YOURSELF
Past President Dave Andrews thanked Teresa for her thought provoking words. Jan Coupland told us of her longstanding friendship with Teresa and expressed appreciation to Teresa for the dedication of her book “Girl Power” to Jan.
