Past Pres. Dave Andrews introduced John Henry, Fellow Rotarian and Mayor of Oshawa.

John is nearing the end of his second term as Mayor of Oshawa and relates the Rotary Four Way Test to a Code of Conduct for daily life at work or play..Johns' enthusiastic support and pride in the City of Oshawa and what has been accomplished over the years is evident as he talks. As always, John relates some historical facts that remind us of our long standing practices of working together to achieve success. The following are some facts highlighted by Mayor John Henry -

  • 2017 was a "banner" year for development; over $600 million in new building permits, setting 10 building records

  • employment base grew 4%, 2700 jobs, 477 new companies

  • state of th art research facilities (UOIT/Durham College)

  • major highway infrastructure, Port of Oshawa, Oshawa Executive Airport - all of these play a major role in local economy and provide support for all aspects of growth in Durham Region and the GTA

  • healthcare technology - our Cancer Centre one of top-ranked in Ontario

  • educational opportunities - nuclear engineering program at UOIT, LHEARN Centre at Lakeridge Health
